What's the WORST gift you ever received for "the holidays?"

With horizontal stripes to boot?

 

For about 8 years in a row my Great Aunt gave me a cheap "walkman" knock off. Every year I got a new one. Wish she would have just saved her money.

About 4 years ago My mother got me a nessco cooker thing for turkeys and such. At that point in my life All I could cook was toast. Then a year later she borrowed it and now she says, I didnt give that to you for christmas.

Ohh and every single gift I have received from her since birth. If I never wanted it, never seen it, never thought I would desire one. Bam! Thats what she would buy me.

But I still love her casue shes my mamma!

 

I don't like to get gift cards or loadable credit cards. I can understand if you are too busy to put some thought into my present, but if that is the case, I would rather have a card.

When I was 26, my best friend at the time gave me (and my girlfriend at the time) a joint gift. It was a cheese cutter.

YES-- a small marble rectangle with a wire cutter attached.

The following year he gave us a box of potporri (sp?), that girlie stuff that looks like hampster cage shavings that smells real pretty.

 

Was he gay?

 

I have this aunt who would mail me a $5 check every year. She always said the same thing on every card. "This is for gas so you will come and visit me"

I never deposited one of them and she would always call me by the middle of the following Feb. to tell me her balance was off!

The funny thing was she lives in Chicago!

I still have about ten of those checks somewhere.

 

My father gave me a gold plated pencil when i was ..17 or so . Proved how much he had no clue whatsoever about my tastes. He prob got it at a board or smthg like that.

I think I have one from exery Christmas going back 10 years. You know these things have no experation date??

 

My uncle got me a boxed set of Cheerios that came with two Cheerios bowls & spoons.. That might sorta be ok when you're a three year-old girl, however I was 25 at the time. The kicker? He got my 23 year-old brother the same thing.

I've received some odd **** from other relatives in the past but I can overlook it because of their position in life--this guy has a few mil in the bank and has demonstrated that he has some taste. Can't wait to see what it'll be this year!

My wife's grandparents live in the midwest. Two years ago for christmas her grandmother sent us cheese. But not fancy cheese, or even a cheese log. She bought a block of safeway cheddar cheese on sale, and then she sliced off 6 small slices (like the size you would put on a cracker) and put them in a ziplock bag, and that was our christmas present.

It must have been that good "Aged Cheddar" from 1981 a la Ronald Reagan!

 

Once I received an artificial plant about a foot high. On close inspection, the base of each flower was made with a condom.

 

My aunt gave me handkerchiefs (sp?) when I was about 14 years old. What kind of a 14 year old uses those things. It was a memorable gift though. To this day I remember how much it sucked. Sometimes it is better to give nothing.

About ten years ago I got a small white ceramic unicorn plant holder with a plastic plant in it and small fake gift boxes hanging from its ears, horn, and neck! What a piece of junk.
