    Hello Again Fellow "F"-Chatters,

Does anyone have any experience with the Permatex Gasket Stipper product?

My question was: That I don't want to discolor or damage the Alum. trans pan in any way, by leaving this product on overnight. The O.E. gasket is welded on and I think I may have to leave the Permatex on over night to loosen it.

    Comments are appreciated.

    Thanks, Chris.

If the gasket is the old gray colored, "tough as nails" gasket, that gasket remover won't help much until you have scraped most of the old gasket off. The gasket remover is ment to sofen up the gasket in about 15 to 20 minutes. After setting on a surface for over 30 minutes it usually dries up so you won't get an overnight soaking. I known. I have scraped off a lot of them. Good luck and be careful.

Chris a few years ago I found this handy gasket removal attachment for my die grinder. They make it for different applications so the one i use is for aluminum. It is supper and it cleans up old stuck on gaskets in a snap. Also it gets into tight areas with no scraping or damage to the alumin. surface. I used this to remove my water pump gasket on the block and also the cam cover gaskets. Here is a picture. You can get this at most auto parts places like NAPA or Big A . Good luck
