Alex, isnt it time u get to work:)
I think it was circa 1998 or 1999. I think the show was caller SuperCars. It showed Some testing of the Shelby Cobra and Series one, some Goodyear tire development a Lingenfelter Corvette at 200 MPH at a test track (maybe the Firestone track at fort stockton or the Ohio track) There was also some Ferrari stuff and Me losing a front tire at 200+mph. "confused by that pic, 195 MPH @ 1500 rpm? is this when the car is cutting out and shutting off?" Yep. We still need to work that out. Notice the boost gauge is still at 20pounds.
I did manage to take some low quality video during the dyno. There are few words to describe the sound of this car at WOT! With the Tubi LM race pipe, the car is very f****** loud! http://www.evosport.com/public/video/f40_dyno_01.mpg http://www.evosport.com/public/video/f40_dyno_02.mpg http://www.evosport.com/public/video/f40_entry.mpg
To aid in the traction and MPH department we are replacing the stock F40 tire (on the right) with something a little more modern (on the left) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
great video! The beast sounds GREAT! Hey Rick, I should be there at CC this saturday with my video camera, let me know if you want to get some fotage. See ya saturday.
A stock F40 running 20 PSI on 116 octane makes 585 RWHP. There is at least 780 HP in that motor (according to Michelotto) Tune it again with 116 octane!
Amazing and beautiful! Words really can't describe it. I've always loved the F40, but as time goes on the more and more I feel my heart crave it more and more.
Unless I'm missing something, the turbo lag implied by the final chart is scary. Look at this span of 1,000 revs: 3,000 RPM = 100 HP = 160 FT LBs 4,000 RPM = 370 HP = 480 FT LBs Were you not on it at the bottom of the rev range? It does sound sweet on the dyno .... DTH
How have you changed the rear end gears? Or have you not? My understanding is that making it faster off the line will decrease the top speed...ala 200. Is this correct or am I missing something(a lot)?
I know, I've driven a couple (un modded). I just wanted to know if it kept that "non lunatic feel at sub 3500 rpm" experience. That's one of things that I think is so cool about the F40s...
I would think it is still pretty tame before the turbos kick in. Although it may be more 348ish than 308ish now. lol Hopefully I will be seeing it tomorrow.
