I haven't changed the final drive gears yet. I am waiting to see what kind of MPH we can get with the new tires. Most people think all F40's will go 201 MPH out of the box. Not true. The U.S. catalyst cars are equipped with a 2.90 final gear where as the Euro non catalyst cars came with a 2.72. That gives the U.S. cars a 194 top speed. We only saw 185mph on the dyno but they may be because the rear tires are down to the wear bars. We are trying to change the Rev limiter but the programing is pretty tricky.
The car is very drivable. Any throttle opening below 3500 rpm is like driving a 355. Light throttle above 4000 rpm results in rapid acceleration. Moderate to heavy throttle above 4000 RPM but below 100 mph results in wheel spin. Heavy throtttle above 100 mph get's you 160 mph NOW!
It is truly awesome to someone really modifying one of these cars. *BIG THUMBS UP* Kind regards, Dusty
Congratulations again... I just watched you videos. Man, sounds like you have a monster there!!! I'm happy it's getting to where you wanted it. Gotta try in Rick! Maybe a trade around the block for a drive with the Enzo???
rick , has the 19 inch corsa been out for long ? Us CS drivers are still waiting for pirelli to release the 19 inch in a 285/35/19 . i was wondering if the 345's have been around long and if not , how did you source a pair? thanks
The tyres pictured are Corsa system not just Corsa. Corsa system are good, but nothing like as good as Corsa.
phil you are right . i should of looked harder at the tread pattern since i'm chewing out systems all the time.
Nice F40 you have there and Specs too. I have rode in a F40 at Kershaw SC here on the east coast and whew I can't even imagine seeing someone trying to stay in control with that much power. His F40 was tuned more too but probably not as much as 611hp. My little catch phrase I always say is "When the Turbo Spins, the Bullshyt ends !!" Btw Rick I think you where the one I was trying to get ahold of on August 13th at Crystal Cove to show you some of the Pics of a 333SP Ferrari at a track day event we had in the NC/VA area. I couldn't find you so I figured you where grabbing a bite to eat so I didn't bother you which later that day I had to catch a Plane back towards the East Coast.
sorry if this a repost, but here is a F40 on the Dyno in Japan... http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=5D37B782-EDBD-4629-AA40-5B285AC36522&kw=214&p=0
Is this car for polishing or driving? I hope to see you at the track. FCA 2x/yr meets at Willow springs. It is a nice safe venue. Come out and play.
If you are ever in that situation with me again, please feel free to find me and chat. That's why we are there. To share the cars, stories and friends. Oh Hell, I'm just a waxer, EVERYONE knows that!! I'm not a big fan of Willow Springs. ButtonWillow or the ALMS track in Vegas would be great though. I haven't been to Fontana But I would like to. Feel free to sent me an invite. I would love to go.
O.K. There is a nice fontana parking lot course that is totally safe run by Alfa Romeo in Feb. I'll keep you posted. Worse damage will be hitting a parking cone. Email me your address and I'll keep you on my track list. [email protected]
