Anyone know where to find values of information on this car? There seems to be very little information on the net. Thanks

Latest issue of Cavallino indicates a price range from $6M to $12M.

Since there were only about 20 made, you're not going to see a lot of action on the web.

One of the best looking f-cars ever in my mind. I have seen 0710TR up close a number of times and everytime I see it I can't help but check out the whole car again. Also, the sound if you ever get a chance to hear one run puts even a 355 with tubi to shame IMHO.

Actually a lot of the old threads in the Vintage section deal with 250 TRs. What information are you looking for?

I think the owner of one put it best when he told me, "If I even have a passing thought about selling this car, my phone starts ringing." Or something like that.

    I believe they built 23 250 TR's in 1958. (My second recollection if not 23 is 18.)

Nothing like a pontoon fendered Ferrari!

'Ferrari, 6th Edn.' by Tanner/Nye lists 33.................of which at least 50 are still around...................;-)

(but the number of GTEs seems to have dropped mysteriously......)

The term 250 Testa Rossa by itslef was stictly for 20 Chassis that were ordered in early 1957 by Ferrari to be built as client race cars. The last example was completed in mid 1958. Only 18 were completed. In the end two of the chassis were not used but recycled into on old car and one new car.

Of these 18 cars all survive in one form or another but most were driven hard and pretty well used up early on in their lives.

Three are more or less without issue but one of these was never raced and used soley as a road car.

Poor examples with hard lives and hard stories are still worth $1M+ but likely that the owner's are happy having a ticket into a pretty exclusive club. Most of the owners who have the average car with average history believe they are worth between 5 to 7M. The last one I was involved with traded hands at $7.5M.

I have onother for sale but the price is $11M and I do not expect my phone to melt with calls to buy at this price in any short order.

The sale of such a car will likely take many months before it is concluded.

    Cheers,

    Bill Noon

Some TRs were 4 cylinder, is that correct? Or, at least not V-12 originally?

You are correct. Some Testa Rossa's have a 4 cylinder (2000 cc) engine are called 500 TR, and it's evolution the 500 TRC (Testa Rossa Competizione).

The 500 TR was introducted in 1956 to keep up with Maserati's 200 S. Ferrari have build 16 examples of the 500 TR.

The 500 TRC was introducted in 1957 and they were a little faster as the 500 TR. A total of 19 examples of the 500 TRC were build by Ferrari.

The 500 TR, as well as the 500 TRC were bodied by Scaglietti. And the of course all had red cam covers.

Thank - you for such a detailed response....I am honored as I believe I have seen you on the History channel before on Million Dollar Cars?? I caught the Ferrari bug when you said on the show: "When you hear a V-12 Ferrari coming down the road you know it".

Yes and no. Some call it a 625 TR, but the official name should be 625 LM, and not 625 TR. The 625 LM also had a 4 cylinder engine but it was 2500cc.

    No longer here
There were two 625 TRCs built and identified as such. They are 0672 MDTR and 0680 MDTR, both sold to John von Neumann. The two original 2.5 liter engines were from the 625 LMs, which were converted to two liter TRs before being sold to private customers.

0672 was later re-engined with a V-12 from the factory, engine 0750 TR (there is no car 0750). It has been restored to that configuration today. 0680 was restored with a V12 engine as well, although not original to the car.

    Hi Bill,

What was the chassis number of the last car you sold? Which chassis number do you have for sale now? Just curious, thanks

Thanks, Old Guy. One of the previous owners of my 365 2+2 now owns one of those cars. Maybe he'll want to trade back some day!

Here is a photo evolution of the Testa Rossa series.

    4 cylinder

    Yellow #15 is 500TR s/n 0622MDTR
    Red #11 is 625LM s/n 0642MDTR
    Red #34 is 500TRC s/n 0670MDTR

    12 cylinder

    Red pontoon fendered 250TR s/n 0734TR
    Red #7 250TR59 s/n 0766TR
    Red #11 250TR59/60 s/n 0774TR
    Red 250TR61 s/n 0794TR

    4 Liter V-12

    Red #6 330TRi/LM s/n 0808

This series is missing the 250TR58 'enveloped body' (0704TR, 0726TR, 0728TR) and 250TRi60 (0780TR, 0782TR) as I have not photographed any of these. Enjoy!
