    Exactly.
    Without it the airflow will produce some sound that someone at Ferrari felt was objectionable or that didn't meet some sound quality criteria. If you taped over that resonator (a Helmholtz resonator if you want to research the tuning of such things), you MAY notice what was being masked. This is increasingly common in newer vehicles, some late models (with those pretty engine covers) have been known to have 3 or 4 !

    looks kinda rude...We have a term for these things in the trade..we call it a donkey dick..basicly it functions as stated above.

    My (since sold) 1994 NSX had a similar resonance tube - where a controversial modification was to jam the red cap from a can of spray "Pam" into the opening, which gave you a "throatier" intake sound.

    I thought it was a resonator, but I thought it would be prudent to throw the question out there. Interesting that this seems to be the first Ferrari (that I've monkeyed with, anyway) to use these in this location. The 360 certainly didn't have any.

    355s did and different market versions had different solutions.

    I believe the 360 handled it in the ducting before the airbox.

    In the ducting in the fender between the intake duct on the fender and the rubber connector hose. It is a rather large piece with I believe some compartments built in.
