hello all, , friendly neighborhood CARREAPER guy here. :)

i have long thought that the Countach in all of its beauty looked better WITHOUT the wing as the car has so much going on already.

i will never have the skills nor the space to ever drive any of my cars fast enough for aerodynamics to even matter.

HOWEVER : the lamborghini Jalpa's were "available" with the Countach wing, and i am thinking i should find one , replica or real (real= ahem, USED !!!) to add to my car. i am not a fan of the "boy ricer" look, but the wing sorta "fits" the 80's theme of the cars era.

i think i like the wing on the jalpa better than without it.

    * NOTE * i have no clue what the wings cost, if they are available used , and if any QUALITY replicas are even made and / or available. i just thought i would throw this out there. not enough of us "old car " guys in the lambo section. Ralph and i are going to end up talking to just each other if you lurkers and other folks dont "say" something now and then. :)

if i do this right, the top pic is of my soon to be delivered Jalpa. the other pics i "borrowed" from the net to show a red car with the wing.

please keep in mind i want to go with a "factory" lamborghini wing , or a good replica, and not something you find on a honda that some kid put on with home depot wood screws . :)

    thoughts, opinions ???? am i nuts ???

The wing looks out of place, like it's from another car. A more angular car, specifically. Which it is :)

i agree, sorta :) but its the whole "gaudy" nature of the era that kind of demands the "look at me" wing. most or the natives here wont know what the hell the car is anyway.

my DinoGT4 REALLY screwed with the locals.

people went NUTS over a car as slow and wierd as the Urraco, cool car that it is. i am unsure how Jalpa ownership is going to be : as in will i like the car? , will the car like me? , will the rednecks shoot it it thinking its a spaceship??? ( dont laugh... ) :)

i guess cost and availablity and *cost*! are going to affect this pipe dream of adding a wing. i hope to be in a Countach or a carb B.Boxer in the spring. if i change too much on the car it will not appeal to the originality freaks, and lambos are hard to sell as it is.

perhaps i should wait till the car comes home next week....... with all that has been done, the jalpa should be one of the nicest ones around !

ok, more thoughts on the wing .......

    Ralph???

6.0 ? : got any parts guru contacts?

    Chad B.?????

    goodnight ya'all :)

I think the rear wing detracts from the look of the car.

I vote no - keep the car wingless.

And congratulations on your new purchase! :)

    I vote no.

The lines of the car look better without the wing. My two cents.

I vote NO on the wing that is shown in the pics, but YES to a wing that would resemble a Pantera wing. Wings look GREAT on Panteras. Maybe look at the wings they use.

The one in those pics does look similar to a Pantera wing though, but something just didn't look right.......

I think it would look GREAT with one. Just make sure it is the right one.....

The FIRST thing I would do is get rid of those wheels. NOT good...

You know Reaper, it is really weird seeing you posting in the Lambo section...Just is!! ;-)

I think they look better with the wing. But I still vote no. Keep it original.

I like the wing-less look on the Jalpa, but IMO it's a must on a Countach...

Gotta have the wing. It is the 80's remember. It was Lambo in all its' austentatious glory. Mine has it and people know it is a Lambo just because of that. Unless you can find a real one, I wouldn't do it. Don't start adding fake parts to such a rare car.

i want the 5 hole Bravo wheels ........i am planning on asking Compomotive if they can make me a set.

i never thought about the Pantera wing, there are 2 types of wing on the Countach also. the later one has the blade edges on the outboard tips.

notice the wheels and wings on these !

i love these wheels !!!!! where is Chelle at !!!! ??

No wing on this one. Yes for the Countach, when you get one.

These Jalpas are absolutely gorgeous, oh and my vote is yes and no cos i cant make my mind up!

I would say yes if there was more colour coding on the vehicle and no if it keeps the black rear hood etc.

I recall when the Countach was out in the '80s there was a magazine review on the car which listed the option price of getting the rear wing, and at that time it was $4,000.

The same article pointed out that a Yugo could also be purchased for $3,990 at that same time.

This of course prompted the question on what would get more attention, the factory wing, or a Yugo strapped to the back of a Countach?

I have no idea what current prices would be, but I would think "reproduction" would be much cheaper than OE.

(Yes, I like the wing & the wheels on the Jalpa)
