They give great service, good luck with yours guys.
I think your description of this model is pretty much spot on. Got mine a day ago and the only minor complaint I have is the ride height, primarily in the front, which I still think is set a little too high. Other than that, the model is superb with the usual flawless CMC paint finish and extreme detail that, IMHO, is the finest I've ever seen from any company. No doubt in my mind that those who have this model on order, and have yet to receive it, will be totally pleased with it. I gave up collecting die cast models some time ago and have sold off just about all of them with the exception of CMC. My collection now consists primarily of hand builts, the only exception being die cast models from CMC, they are the best!
Sounds very promissing, allthough I still have to see it in the flesh before I order one. Question: how is the chrome? In the pictures it looked too thick and plastic. Is it plastic or is it some soort of sheetmetal with the correct thickness? Thanks. Ciao, Peter Oh btw, what did you pay for it?
Hi Peter, I saw one of these at the Classic Car Show a couple of weeks ago (but didn't buy it). I also thought the chrome looked too thick and plastic. My summary: a nice model, but not perfect and, considering the price, not a "must buy". I would recommend you look at one in the metal yourself before ordering. Jonathan
It does seem to ride a bit high in front but so does my old 1/24 kit from Gunze-Sanyo and if you look at photos of 'em they seem to squat down a bit in the rear. As for the chrome, I'm not about to try scratching it to find out if it's plated plastic or actual metal but I think the window frames and bumperettes are well proportioned although it's possible the door handles and window cranks are a bit too large. Even the chrome on the hood scoop is nicely done. The Borranis as I said are particularly well done with rims that are not too shiny and perfectly sized wire spokes that aren't chromed. The wheels can be removed by undoing the knockoff nuts! OTOH the instrument group could've been done better, there's no attempt to replicate glass lenses. Also shouldn't the car have seat belts (it's supposed to replicate a 1961 Lusso or Street model)?
Andy, your comments are well taken but, if I've learned nothing else over the period of years I've been collecting, there's no such thing as a "perfect model". The majority of my collection is made up of handbuilts by some of the finest model makers and none of them are "perfect" either and they were far more expensive. All thinks considered, I think CMC did a fine job and I would not hesitate to recommend this model to anyone who's a Ferrari fan. To the best of my knowledge, there's not a finer, more detailed, model of the 250SWB available.
with "Buy It Now" pricing between $199 and $205. If I waited until it was available locally, the sales tax would be about the same as shipping ($14-$15). Hope to have mine sometime late next week. KevFla
no, but don't panic. All the CMC models which have ever been released are still available. No such 'so-limited-b***s***'. Best Regards Martin
hello to everyone. i just received my cmc 250 gt swb ferrari from replicarz. and i must it is one of the most detailed ferrari that i have seen in a long time, from the engine detail to interior, to the opening fuel cap,it was worth the wait,i live in ireland, and the cmc dealer said it would cost about 250 euros to get, but i got mine for 200 euros in cluding shipping from the usa. the cmc model is much better than any hw or mds model by a long shot
Well, I received mine yesterday! Oh my *god*, what a model! Unfortunately, mine was damaged in shipping - the rear center bumper piece had broken off.......Back it goes, I guess. I should have a new one sometime next week. One question for those of you who've rec'd your SWBs: When you set it flat on a table, are all four wheels solidly planted on the ground? I ask because, on mine, it behaved as if it were a 4-legged chair where one leg is *just* a touch shorter than the rest - you know, the one you always get at a restaurant which forces you to move to another seat. ANyway, I was surprised at this, as I don't think it could be a result of shipping damage - it must've come that way from CMC. Obviously, when you have a hand-built replica (just like a 1:1 version), there will always be slight differences between the parts. I am just curious to see if anyone else noticed a similar condition when they rec'd their model. That is all... Aaron
The car came today - well packed and undamaged from Scale18.com What is pretty impressive are the mechanical details: the yellow fuel lines, the brake calipers, the engine - you can even tell it has a Facet brand fuel pump with that distinctive color pattern!! I was a bit disappointed with the plastic looking seats (the Kyosho Boxer is better), but the overall proportions and attention to detail are terrific - the windshield weatherstripping and aluminum/chrome pieces are perfectly colored. the rear leaf springs work. While it does appear thick in photos, the wood steering wheel is not that bad at all and is the best I have ever seen in 1:18 While detailed pics have been posted before, here is the new CMC with two other 250 GT brothers, the HotWheels Lusso and Bburago LM. It is certainly the centerpiece of any 1:18 Ferrari collection. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This model can be easily dismantled to make modifications? Is it assembled by screws or rivets, if not, how ?
I picked up my cmc 250 ferrari and masarati models i think they are beautiful works of at i couldn't be happier Doug
I called Exoto tody as i ordered the 250GTO back in3-19-04 and they said it was ready to be shipped now. I also ordered the 1/10 scale 1969 gt 40 #6 in the gulf colors it was $ 795 but I had the coupon that took off $200 and they will still honor the price the down side is I ordered it 4-1-04 and they say that it won't be ready until sometime in early 2006 so i'll just have to see if it ever gets here. But I have to tell you that I think the CMC ferrari 250 and the masarati are works of art and hope he come out with more models now. Doug
I placed my order for the Exoto Ferrari 250GTO in March of 2002! The last e-mail I received from them said delivery would NOT be by Christmas but some time "early next year" so, at this point, anybody's guess is as good as mine but, don't hold your breath, it could be fatal!!
Morning we at Ultimate toyz repesent CMC amd we have CMC 250 and all other CMC models we are in Tarzana California 818-342-0125
I've finally had the chance to inspect the CMC SWB and to make a long story short: I didn't buy it. First of all I have to say that pictures don't do the model much justice. In the flesh it's a very good model. The stance of tha car is right, proprtions as well and the paint is perfect. The interior looks great. In pictures the steering wheel rim looked a bit too thick but it's fine. The only problem I have is with the chrome and wire wheels. Especially the chrome rim of the grille is too thick and looks too plastic. I would expect that kind of detail from Hot Wheels but not from CMC. They should have used thin sheet metal or photo etched parts. The wire wheels are very hard ro replicate in this scale. I'm aware of that. But the spokes are too thin. More bicycle than car. Also the centre knock off hubs are sticking too much out. I may be very critical but for this kind of money I think that's justified. Anyway I'm not entirely put off and if CMC are going to release competition versions in different colours I will definitely reconsider because apart from the chrome and wheels it's a very very good model. Just my 2 cents. Ciao, Peter
Oh cool. I'll hold off then with getting one and modding my current into a race version. One less project to do...
I don't think he meant that there actually will be competition versions, only that he would only get one if there were.
