I had my 79 308 GTB at the body shop having the lower door panels redone (again). They took the doors off completely, and when finished reassemblying discovered that there is no longer any power to either window. The motors work, the fuses work, but there is no power to the switches. It is somewhere between the fuse and the door switch. Does anyone know of a relay or additional fuse that may be the problem? If so does anyone have a diagrahm of where it is?

First thing to do is tell the shop they screwed up the switches. It could be that they didn't connect them back up, when they put the door liner back on. But make the shop fix the problem since they screwed it up. If you start messing with it they will be able to say that you were the one who casued the problem. Not that you can't fix it, but if you took it to the place working they should give it back to you in the same condition.

So make them fix their scew up, and make sure they do it right.

I have a copy of the wiring diagram in Italian.......I sent it to my body shop.

One of mine works, one does not!

They said both were running before they stored it.............

This morning I tried switching the relay with a different one to see if that was the problem but still no power. Is there anything between the fuse box and the door switch that could stop the flow?

As in "broken wire"?????? Hidden in that taped up bundle thru the grommet you could easily have a snapped conductor, due to fatigue.

The other thing to look at would be the grounding of the motor. Try a jumper there and see if it goes....

The motor itself could have just packed it in..... there's lot of threads on tearing them down, but I don't know if the pics survived.....

Steve -- The wiring diagram for your '79 is in the back of the 150/78 US OM for 308GTB/S -- you can download it from the Owners Site as a .pdf file.

Are you saying that when you try to operate the windows the voltage at the bottom terminals of fuses #8 & #9 measure +12V yet there is no wire at the Driver's window switches at +12V? (fuses count from 1 to 18 starting from the leftmost as viewed when sitting in the passenger seat)

Have you also confirmed that the bottom terminal leaving fuse #1 is at +12V during attempted window operation?

Are other things served/enabled by that same fuse #1 (turn signals, wipers, brake lights, etc.) working OK?

    Steve,

I have not confirmed this yet with a voltmeter, but I was told that the fuses were good. I will have to do this and see for myself. But the motors run fine when hotwired, it has to be somewhere at the fusebox or relays,,, I think!

OK -- Give a shout back when you can make the voltage measurements at the bottom terminals leaving the fuses.
