Got home around 4:30 - the P Zero Nero's are awesome in the wet/ice. They didn't lose traction at all, one of my chief complaints with the Kuhmo Ecsta. What a difference.

At our house, our gates were iced at 8:30 this morning - down this way the chance of ice or snow has an impact on our schools as we run many rural routes - in fact busses ran at 11:30 today (to be counted present they have to be there until 10 am) with no school tomorrow - bad part is one of our two bad wx days is Good Friday. Right now it's sleeting quite heavily, the deck is white, the cows are in the barn at the end of the arena, big horses are huddled together, everyone at the big barn are in the stalls, backyard horses would be knocking at the sliding door if they could climb the steps. By now our road is probably ice and the bridge over the north end of the lake is definitely icy. Six and a half years at 9100' in the CO mountains was plenty of winter for me along with all the time spent in PA. Hopefully with the sleet we won't have power line problems. At least it's suppose to be sunny later in the week.

It is funny to see what happens here, when it becomes icy. In Houston it is probably even worse. The radio stations advise people not to lock and hold your brakes, when you slide.

Of course we do have good experience driving in other hazardous conditions. Texas and Louisiana driver's do have some ability, to drive in a severe thunderstorm, with zero visibility out of the car.

Driving home last night was a blast. I enjoyed it. I even got to see some poor soul careening across the highway, into the median, and come to a halt. I don't know if it was on purpose, but it was rather interesting to watch. The cause of it was some dipstick parked in the center lane at the end of a bridge. Brilliance to the first degree.

Ah well, I loved it. Classes are cancelled. I'll be heading into work this afternoon.

Electrical supply transformer MELTED one wire off of it last night from the load. In this area there is no Gas service so our heat pumps and half the house was without electric. What I'm worried about the most is when power comes up will the pool equipment pipes be broken as there was no circulation. Temps went to about 20 degrees. Crossing my frozen fingers.
What kills me is that the neighbors didnt know a problem existed.

The news said normal traffic accident is about 30/night in Metro area, but it was over 240 accidents last night. I was wondering these people went out for a night, or just coming back from work.

David give me a pm and I can give you a couple of pointers on the pool stuff, I do have a little familiarity with that sort of problem.

I had this mental image of your shoulders slumping , head tilting downward while slowly nodding side to side, a single tear of frustration cascading towards your keyboard...
