I always try to pop the ball joints while still attached to the car.

it can get quite energetic to pop them on the bench.

Looks great. Makes me miss my own BB even more now...

Not sure about the smooth coating to the uprights though... should be a cast texture. Very rare, but they can crack, a thick coating like that could hide a potentially lethal problem. Especially after the effort involved to pop ball joints.

Seen a couple too many restored race cars with chromed suspension parts... one of these nearly killed a Melbourne man.

Point to note.. sometimes, plating can cause enbrittlement. You may find threads to be weak.. such as bleed screws in calipers, or suspension bolts.

I don't know why this happens, but it seems to be only sometimes.

Photos look like gold painted parts but actually Gold tin/cad plate. Does have red and green colors - very cool and looks like original plate .I guess hard gold cad plate is not legal in most states especially California.I did have the all the plating heat treated by oven for 24 hours i was told by the plater. The brake caliper bolts and nuts were black oxide. The wheel hubs are clear cad.

I have heard stories like that too but seems in most cases the stress was caused by hard driving. I baby mine but understand the possibility.

Looks awesome! I plan to do the same to mine next winter if I ever get the 308 done. The plating looks great. Its amazing what a difference that will make just to the over all look of the car. If the paint is great on your car it will look like a new car when you are done. Thanks for posting the pics. When do you plan to do the rear?

The smog thing must suck, we have testing every 2 years here but anything 87 and older is exempt. They just recently made this change to the 88 models, if they go back further I might be up the creek. Fingers crossed.

If my BBi suspension looked so good, I don't know if I would put it back in the car, or hang it on a wall, behind glass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David, question on the rims, they look perfect but im assuming you are without the rim size decals now? Mine are long gone and have been refinished at one point I guess. Does someone make repop decals?

Great pics of all the parts spread out on the table. It will be a joy putting all the clean parts back together. Post spme pics when its all finished. Did a local shop do your plating? I will be looking to have the lug studs on my 328 rechromed next spring.

Here is a shot with the spindle bolted on. I have all bolts loose and need to set steering rack and align wheels.Everything seems to be going together very good.
