Friends, This is my 1000th post, and it is a milestone for me. I posted it here as anyone that works on their car I consider a friend and confidant. And any real mechanic let alone a Ferrari mechanic I hold with reverence normally reserved for heads of state or the pope! Politics and Religion area is dangerous territory for me. In the main area I'm more afraid of the F-Chat Police than the trolls and my local areaI am just to damn far from Crystal Cove!! ;-P Anyway to make a long story short this is the area where I feel at home and return to the most. I am an amatuer mechanic at best but with the guidance of many here and at the original F-list and Carl's Yahoo tech-list I have able to complete repairs and maintenance that have amazed this old ex-rock drummer. I want to wish Rob and Ferrari-Chat a Happy 5th Biirthday, and thank everyone who has extended advice, friendship and help to me. Dino appreciates it and so do I. The knowledge that I have gained working on the Ferrari has made ownership much more involved and exciting. When I drive my car at speed I know who serviced the half-shafts and torqued the suspension components, etc, and I feel at ease knowing they won't fall apart. (well maybe!!) 12 years and I have done it all myself (with your help)!! I am proud, very proud!! carbs are next!!!!! Cool pic's Robert! Glad that you're able to work on your own car. Pretty soon the next batch of home mechanics will be listening to your advice on here!
Some of those 1,000 posts have been very helpful to me in maintaining my 308. Thank you for your help these past four years, Robert. Barry
Hey, Robert - I always look forward to your insights & as such, Tech really is the most appropriate a place for your 1,000th post.
Absolutely! His car looks great inside and out. I never understood the shape of the 308 gt4, though, until after I had purchased my first (only) F-car. Overnight the lines made sense. I view cars entirely differently now. Hard to explain.
A very beautiful car! We have also gained so much from your posts, photos and experience - here's to the next 5 years! best rt
Rob, thank you for all of your great posts and wonderful pictures. The GT4 looks great and I look forward to 1000 more posts.
Thanks guys, Only a silver award in 2004 the great Ferrari & Dino meet, but the two guys that beat me had thier cars trailered there. I passed one on the way back near Cambria after big sur, the look on his face was classic. It was the greatest moment and drive of my life. Someone on f-chat caught me on the way up I think you can see my wife, it looks like shes driving with Toonces the cat. I dont have many inside photos but will take some. I am glad I have helped anything I have given however was passed on by wiser than me. My only origimal thought was to try Dex-Cool, which probably was not the greatest idea! I have learned allot and am working on a 308 book for dummies. I am not sure I will ever finish it (I have to work allot). I remember when I did my first timing belt job I told my wife to lock the front door. If she heard the engine start let me in if not call for help!!! You can tell Im a gear head as I lie in bed thinking of my sodium valves!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
