Not an F-car owner, so possibly uninformed (I'm hoping unbiased) views here.

On the plus side, the prancing horse represents :

    - Passion

    - Exclusivity

    - Racing pedigree

    - Beauty

On the minus side, it has come to be associated with :

    - Snob value

    - Temperamental behaviour

    - Expense of maintenance.

Please, no flaming, these are subjective impressions, which is what the orig. poster was asking for, I think.

Try looking a bit deeper than those face value connotations you mentioned.

Try think of it interms of Archetypes. What would be the Archetype of a ferrari driver?

I don't think there is an archetypical Ferrari driver. They span a wide range from royalty to backyard mechanics. A couple common traits though would probably be a love for the automobile and the freedom it represents. Not to be simply transported from point a to point b but to be in control of a performance machine and be one with it. It needs you just as much as you need it. For the Ferrari driver, the "gettin' there" is much more fun than the "bein' there". I know I always take the long way home.

    Hope that helps some.

Fill in your profile, ask for a ride from someone in your area. There are a few people that could be happy to help you out.

Do that, and form your own opinion of Ferrari and use your own experiences to put that into the subject matter.

    Awesome professor...!

Ferrari represents many things to many people - as you've already seen... It's a rich part of Italian culture and an integral part of motorsport history... To me, Ferrari represents the pinnacle of passionate automotive excellence... It represents beauty beyond all other beauties... It represents my gratitude for my ability to hear...

It represents myriad things to many people... Good luck on your report and let us know how it turns out...

Like most others have said, I think the thing Ferrari represents most is Passion. Take the opinion of going for a ride in one, and you will understand.
