No, I grew up walking creeks/rivers sticking my arms in holes, but looking for reptiles, not catfish. The serious noodlers dive down under the water. Many loose fingers because snapping turtles are in the same holes or many drown getting caught. A 60-80 lb. flathead can fight a 150 lb. man pretty good, especially when you are in its world. About the closest redneck thing I do is limb and float lines.
Can you even cook catfish? WTF are you supposed to do with it once you catch that thing? They are ugly as sin IMO Erik
Of course you cook catfish. Catfish is great. Although the 50 lb. monsters usually don't taste that good compared to 1 lb. farm raised fish.
Rob, I see you got a few Green-Winged Teal that day. Cute little buggers. I had a pair as pets when I was a kid.
Rob I didn't even know you could it it. Seriously thanks for letting me know. what other fish does it taste like?
You've never had catfish in a restaurant!?! Is that just a southern thing? Every restaurant in the Midwest and all confederate states serves catfish. Usually with hush puppies and cole slaw. Unique taste, not like anything from salt water. Very good though, that's why it so popular.
If I had any ducks as pets I would never be able to shoot them. Yes, GW teal are one of the prettiest ducks. There is a hen Widgeon in there, the drakes are very pretty. No wood ducks this year, I think those are the best looking.
I had quite a collection of ornamental waterfowl as a kid. GW Teal, BW Teal, Cinnamon Teal, Falcated Teal, Chilean Widgeon, Wood Ducks, Manadarin Ducks, Northern Shovelers, and Baikal Teal, among others. It was an interesting hobby at the time, although it did nothing for my love-life. LOL! Still, I find duck to be delicious!
i guess you can say i have 2 ducks as pets. every spring i get 2 ducks a male and a female, the same 2 every year. they wait outside my back door for me and they eat duck feed right from my hand. they usually visit me 2 x per day. i also give them water to drink. i think its pretty wild, the same 2 every year.
My dog loves me unconditionally. John, Don't let him fool you. He'd love to be here so that this crisp, refreshing Northern air could coldcock him in the face!
