I understand two is better than one and more is better but why 2 of the SAME. Why not own a 550 and a 360 instead of 2 360's or God forbid another brand?

I was nearly in this same situation. I own the carb 308 and was offered to buy a mint, less than 10,000 miles 308 QV GTS. which I took a look and it was real nice but the price was too unrealistic. And the owner value his mint so much. Nothing went through. That's why I never really was in the owning two cars of the same model situation.... but I can understand them. In fact, I have three Honda CRV's at the moment. They get me from place to place with no problems what so ever. If it works why not stick with it....

it is simple. you love the model. honestly if could have 2 of the same exact 355 spiders i would. Even if they were the same color, i would still get it.

Well...I own two Acura NSX's and my reasoning was pretty simple. I drove one, loved it, bought it. I kept on driving it for several years and then the time came for another car of mine to be replaced and a friend said, 'Why not just buy another NSX if you love them so much,' so I did. I bought a different color, different transmission, and to me it was like a different car. I am actually considering buying a third and maybe fourth one over the next 10 years, and yes I will be keeping all of them. :)

There is something about finding a car that you really love driving that makes you buy multiples of them. The NSX's is not the first car I have had two of, as there have been a couple others, but this is the first car where I will end up having 3 or 4 of them at the same time. It has never been about mileage, because I drive them and love putting lots of miles on cars that are fun and reliable. Most people either get it or they don't. Oh well, I get it....and that is all I need. ;)

I would be happy to answer any other questions...just let me know!! Heck, if I could buy two F40's I would because that car is AMAZING!!!

If I could have 3 boxers I would, one of each kind or I would just settle for 3 of the same right down to colour and I bet if they were all the same, they would all "feel" slightly different when you drove them. They would almost have their own personalities I bet. Mmmmmm 36 cylinders.....

you should have two of the exactly same car , in case you run over somebody , and they say - "thats the guy with the ferrari who ran over that homeless person!- then you show the police the other car, you know the one without the shoe stuck in the grill.

really though kind of boring to have to exact same, unless they were rare sequential number cars...

I could have 2 360's, or 2 430's, one spider and one CS or Coupe, but it seems pointless to have 2 spiders etc.

Tho having one Rossa CS and one TDF CS, yeah I could handle that.

I think the ultimate answer is.... BECAUSE YOU CAN! ! !

I had one CS and one 360 Modena. Sold the 360 and bought a second CS. Why? Here are my best (and worthless) reasons:

    - the car is special and unique
    - it is the ultimate thrill ride (to me)
    - I can drive them often and accumulate half the mileage on each
    - I always have one to drive even if one is at the dealer

Bottom line? I have NO good reason(s). Nothing about the decision to own two of the same car is rational. But in the end ... I guess if you love Ferraris the way many of us do ... you can never get enough of them. Plus ... two is better than one ... especially when it comes to Stradales! :)

P.S. One is Rosso Scud and the other TDF Blue :)

Thanks for some great answers. I wish to point out that I in no way fault anyone for having more than one of a particular car. It is just that I never understood it and not understanding does not mean that something is wrong. On a personal note I suppose that I have 2 reasons for not owning more than one of the same car:

    1. I have never been in the financial position to do so and one's perspective is always different because of it.

    2. I am a car enthusiast and am not super partial to any brand (although I have my favorites). This opens up a huge realm of choice where there never seem to be enough $'s or parking spots to satisfy the 'list'. Therefore buying 2 of anything would only hamper me from buying and parking one other dream ride.

one reason is because you have a stupid amount of money...

not sure if anyone knows who nigo is, but he owns a clothing company called bathing ape [bape]. i've done a little work for him here and there in the past, and you'd be suprised to see how popular his company his. if you haven't heard of it, their is good reason for it. the company is based out of japan, and he's done everything to opening up 3 stores [that i know of] worldwide [new york in the soho district, tokyo, & london], a cafe, hair salon, and he's trying for a hotel. anyways, at one time he had 2 360 spiders [one black, one silver], and 2 bentley arnages...their was a spread in dub magazine that pictured those cars, but i'm pretty sure he doesn't own them anymore...he switches up cars like its nothing. he's had a murci, a gallardo, carrera gt, etc. that i know of. him and pharrell [the pharrell with the black enzo], also own the company billionaire boys club. google the name 'nigo' or 'bathing ape', for more information. currently he has a rolls royce phantom painted in camoflauge [the bathing ape camoflauge]. when you can do ridiculous s**t like that, it means you have stupid money...

I rarely post, but this seems to be an appropriate thread to trot out one of my pet ideas. I've always suggested that any two (or more) Ferrari owner should buy a couple of those novelty license plate frames (the cheaper, the better) that proudly proclaims,"My other car is a Ferrari." I suppose the two of the same model corrollary is that you could be a bit more specific. You could get custom cheapo license plate frames that boast,"My other car is a Testarossa."

'Cuz one of these days, I'll fall over dead...........

They can all gather 'round and say:

    "One for you."

    "And another one for you."

    "And this one's for you!"

Of course the SMARTER ones will sell immediately, before something expensive breaks! LOL!

It's not so much an a ASSET as it is a LIABILITY!!!!!

My youngest daughter has figured this out, long ago.

my wife always jokes that she's going to put a license plate frame on the F40 that says "My other car is a Volvo V70" (her car!)

Ditto. I like the variety of going from the Porsche to the Jeep, or the Ferrari. Frankly, with the maintenance costs and time involved for anything interesting to drive, it's hard for me to justify having more than one 'demanding' car and one disposable car. I don't see the point in having two 360's or 430's - great cars, but it would make them both seem less special, IMO. I'd invest the money somewhere other than in my garage.

OTOH, a lot of people ask me why I 'need' two cars -- which tells me that a lot of people don't really get the whole car enthusiast mindset. My g/f asked last night if I had "actually just bought the Ferrari to drive fast on twisty roads". So there you have it...

My friend worked for a lawyer with two Porsches. The license plate frame on his 911 read:

    MY OTHER CAR

    IS ALSO A PORSCHE
