    Todd,
I appreciate the fact that you come on here and bring your side of the story to the table. Unfortunately you gave more effort in responding than you did in selling me a car. Now I realize that it is difficult to weed out the tire kickers from the buyers but I didnt feel like I was getting any real help when I called, twice. I was promised a call back to confirm that the gentleman from California was buying the blue 355. At that point you informed me that you had a signed sales order but no deposit. I never got the call either way. Ironically the car remained on your web site for a month after.......I was disappointed. As for the payment, I think that there are people in this world that you can trust for taking checks. I am a Florida lawyer and I assure you that I would never risk my license or potential criminal charges for a Ferrari, Enzo or 355. I was able to verify availability via telephone to a Wachovia 800 number, etc. To expect a person to drive 300 miles with $90k in cash is silly. But it is your business not mine.

Nice to see you come to defend yourself. I think most would agree this is highly respectable. I believe it is.

Now stay awhile - subscribe - and become an active member in this community. I think you would have a lot to offer than just defense. :)

Todd, I don't blame you for the check policy. I own 2 retail stores and I don't take checks (much smaller amounts). Anyone that thinks you can take a check for that amount of money doesn't have to deal with people paying them for their services with a check. I would also like to see your subscription here, you have more to offer here than just cars with wierd exhaust pipes. Have a good one.

Todd, I dont blame you either. Personal check's??? THAT IS A GIVEN. Who the hell would take a personal check nowadays? Especially for those amounts.

I really enjoy seeing your ad's. Your pictures are always stunning. I've been watching them for years. Keep up the good work.

I am usually a closet chat guy but I have to step in on this subject. I have been around Ferrari's all my life, go to Cavallino every year, and have owned 12 different models as well as other exotics. In my pursuit of the ultimate driving experience I have come across many car companies, by far, Naples Motorsports is the BEST!!! I have bought five ferraris from them and three sight unseen. I am as anal as all of you (TODD, THE OWNER IS WORSE) when it comes to buying my cars, that is why I trust that they buy clean cars and they are as described. I am glad Todd got on CHAT to defend himself because it would be a shame for the chatters to get an attitude about his company. I also want to address the fact that they do not negotiate, they do.. The one good thing about Naples is they own all their inventory. Not to many exotic car companies can say that. If your looking for a clean car at a fair price, give these guys a try and they will meet and exceed any and all expectations.

I think a good portion of people can agree that BH1 had a not so pleasant experience and now has shared it. Thanks for sharing

Naplesmotorsports has defended himself and has a valid point on how HE conducts business. Thanks for sharing.

Everyone who reads this thread will form their own opinion as to Naplesmotorsports and their business. Although the experience shared by BH1 is appreciated, it would NOT deter me from doing business with Naplesmotorsports and Todd.

Now lets stop the highjack of my thread and lets talk about the ugly interior and funky tail pipes :)

    Thanks for sharing

My tastes may not be a refined as all yourse, but I do love the koeing 6 pipe exaust, its original and vulgar. That is something I would invest in, sure it may be a bit too flashy for some, but its much better than spinners and lambo style doors, no?

The interior is another issue, it is probably the ugliest 360 I have seen, and it takes alot to top the '99 Modena yellow/red+yellow piping I saw on ebay a few years back...now thats a Ronald McDonald car!! The F430 that was posted is perfect, just enough interior accents to balence everything out. I like red, but too much just looks cheep and tacky.

I think that it's fine to point out that Naples Motorsports has a good inventory and is anal about having/buying clean cars.

It's not fine, however, to pretend that Naples Motorsports is negotiable on price. They aren't.

They called me back no fewer than 3 times and *refused* to speak aloud any figure except their advertised price in response to my cash offer.

And that's fine. Not every dealership has to negotiate. Different styles for different places.

But they don't negotiate on price. Maybe if you have to finance or some such they might play with some payment numbers, but on the cash price of the car (which is all I see because I don't finance) they are inflexible.

As a courtesy, it would be polite for Naples Motorsports to advertise their car prices as "firm" so that people didn't waste their valuable time attempting to negotiate; Naples won't.

I'm all for having light-hearted threads bashing ugly cars, but I'm not for pretending that a dealership does something (good or bad) that it doesn't.

Naples Motorsports does *not* negotiate on price. I've been down that road with them, personally.

That's not even a "bad" thing, or at least it wouldn't be a bad thing if they were upfront about their firm prices.

Watch their ads on eBay. Either their inventory goes for the Buy It Now Price or else they won't part with it. Every bidder is wasting his time because only their Buy It Now price will win the car.

Same with calling them. First, you won't get Todd on the phone initially. He's always in a conference or meeting or on the other line. He *only* talks to you by calling you back.

Then when he calls back, he only wants *you* to speak aloud a price for his car...he'll say no price except his list price.

That's not negotiating, and that's why I bought elsewhere...after wasting my time with Naples Motorsports (because they didn't advertise their prices as being "firm" so I had no way to know in advance).

I also respect Todd's point of view.

    But...

He can't have it both ways. He can't be inflexible on price and simultaneously claim that he negotiates. He doesn't.

He wants to sell top cars for a fixed price, and that's a fine business strategy that may very well work for him in this market.

But you can't claim to be negotiable on price when you are only selling at your sticker price.

"Negotiable" does not mean that you'll play games with finance payments or credit or whatever. Being negotiable is about the selling price itself.

    1. Who really cares about the color of the cars interior. The person who ordered it might have a passion for red!

    2. The exhaust is different so what, apparently the owner likes to be different. Not everyone likes Tubi or Capristo (personally I love the Tubi)

    3. Giving Todd at Naples Motorsports a hard time because he wont take a personal check is idiotic. would you hand the title over to me if I wrote you a personal check?

    4. All sales are open to negotiations! If I want to sell you something at a certain sales amount, then please dont be offended if I dont reduce my price. There could multiple factors here...Maybe I have just reduced the price substantially and cant afford to reduce it any more.

I have purchased 4 Vehicles from Todd 1 360 Spider, 360 coupe, Maserati Coupe, H1 Hummer..... 3 of them sight unseen ....He stands behind his cars 110% ...I have never gotten anything less than what he has quoted...cars have all been perfect... If they arent he would take it back in a second. I purchase no less than 5/6 cars a year and have never dealt with such a helpful person as Todd...This web site is a great tool but to smear someones name because of idiotic reasons is shameful.

    Good luck to all.

Hmmm I guess there's a first for everything. Everybody has had one or two bad experiences with dealers. Cant be avoided I guess. But thats ok, theres plenty of other dealers. Part of my company retails, and in my experience we havent been able to give 100% customer satisfaction all the time even though we've tried. Those customers we werent able to satisfy naturally wont be coming back. It is their right. Those customers in particular of course "badmouthed" my place of business to their friends who wont be coming to us either. That also, is their right. I think when the time comes for me to buy another car I wont be looking for it at Naples. But that is my right.

Wouldnt take a personal check??? I couldnt even geta return call let alone get to the point of even paying. Read the above post about payment policy, cash or wire.. thats it. No big deal. My gripe had little to do with payment and everything to do with poor customer service, or lack of potential customer service. I dont expect to get wined and dined but hell just sell me a car!! Dont make excuses, have to "check something", etc. I drove most of the way there to get my black car I would have kept going and got my preferred blue car....... They reserve the right to run their place however they see fit, I reserve the right to give my cash to whoever I see fit...... This may be my first Ferrari but it wont be my last. Besides, if I want to be ignored I will just go to the Ferrari dealer in shorts, flip-flops and a T-shirt....

This thread is about opinions on the car that I found.

The interior in that car is hideous and the exhaust looks like it came from Pimp my Ride. I don't like it and I want everyone to know. If you don't like it or you Do like it...post !!!

I agree with the other guy who said that the three pipes filled in the area better than the two pipes. Impractical, but I could see a V12 with six pipes. Since we're dreaming, how about a custom, 12 into 6 exhaust system. Wouldn't that sound cool! I once got behind a Honda CBX with a 6 into 6 exhaust system. Closest thing I've ever heard to a Formula One car.

personally, I don't care for the color combo or the looks of the exhaust (even though I'm sure that it sounds incredible)....

That said, I'd like to touch on the Naples Motorsports part too (sorry, but I can't ignore it). I've known Todd for over 10 years from when he lived up in Boston and I've been buying cars from him since 1996! First off, his prices are negotiable, I've never paid full asking price on any of the cars that I bought. Of course they're going to start firm on their asking price, wouldn't you? Todd and Rob (his general manager) have always come through and sold their cars at a fair price... yes, some of their prices are higher than other cars around and you'll probably pay a little more buying from them but you will definitely be getting a car that is worth every penny you paid! 2nd, I've never been to a car dealership that WOULD take a personal check... they wouldn't be in business long if they did. I've always paid Naples Mtrsports w/ a certified bank check so I find it hard to believe that they wanted someone to come down w/ $100k in unmarked bills in a briefcase!! I think I only drove one of the cars that I bought from them before I purchased it and I've never had one complaint about any of the cars that I bought from Todd. They definitely stand by all the cars that they sell and will do whatever it takes to make their customers happy before and after the sale. My brother bought his Ferrari from them and like any older Ferrari some small issues came up. Todd didn't bat an eyelash at taking care of all of them to make him happy.

I know in any business you won't make all of your customers happy all of the time but I know that Naples Motorsports prides themselves on customer service and if (like Todd said) anyone took a look at their recent sales pages on their site you will notice that most of their business is from repeat customers, that has to say something about them and their products (price and all).

That being said... Todd, I'll see you and Rob in the spring for something new.

    Mmm...no.

I'm not going to be too harsh on you (it's Christmas Time and all that), but lets not go shilling for Naples. They don't negotiate. The first time that any Fchatter calls about one of Todd's/Rob's cars, they'll find out that Naples Motorsports only sells for sticker price.

And that's not even a bad thing. Lots of top-tier retailers have a no-negotiation policy. Really, the only bad thing about NM's non-negotiation on price is that they aren't upfront about it.

Now, you've hyped NM here on Fchat before. Here's a quick refresher:
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=134469608&postcount=6

And that's all fine and well. Rob's your buddy. But you're no disinterested party.

Frankly, I doubt that you've personally ever bought a car, though your dad may have.

Here you are over on Boston.com:
    http://www.boston.com/cars/presidentsday/2002/best1/messagethree9.shtml
Now granted, you may be able to get your dad to buy you a Ferrari or BMW 745i to go parking, but if you get him to buy it from Naples Motorsports, then your dad is going to have to pay full list price.

This isn't something that is debate-able. I've been down that road. I've talked to Todd and I've talked to Rob and they don't **budge** from their list price.

So you do a disservice to fellow Fchatters when you claim, erroneously, that Naples Motorsports negotiates on price.

    They don't.

And that wastes the time of any serious buyer who thinks that Naples is like most car dealerships that do negotiate.

Todd and Rob don't have to negotiate on price. There isn't anything wrong with that business practice.

What's wrong is to claim that they do negotiate when they don't because that wastes our time.

    And that's disrespectful.
