Contacts develop a blue patina from overheating.

This sort of thing just supports my reasoning to buy a replicated exotic rather than an undependable original. I know most won't agree but if I could drop a built 350 into a replicated newer model Ferrari replica I could match performance and also have the styling. I could also afford the repairs.

Yes, but then you are missing out on a part of the whole experience associated with these cars.

Exotic car owners deal with problems on $180k cars that would be totally unacceptable on an $18k car. It is part of the experience...

My suggestion to anyone who has an F-1 equipped car that is out of warranty and is used regularily and has a number of miles is to do yourself a favor and have the relay replaced just because.maybe the 30k service is the time to do it.Consider it cheap insurance. If I remember correctly its just a Bosch part and can be ordered by a parts house for much less than the dealer but I think its a little over &100.00 from Mr.Ferraripartsman.Give the part number embossed on the relay body to parts house man to order one.Its behind the passenger seat(I think but cant remember for sure, sorry) Arrivederci You all ! Had the 30 K done last year but not sure if dealer replaces these relays.

I will definately replace it . Definately cheap insurance.

Speaking of F1 pump relays, I just replaced mine last week. The part was $44.00 retail at the dealer.

Just curious, what does the “ENGINE F40 $38,639” include? E.g., base engine, but no heads, injectors, or electronics…? Bare block? Just the engine label? ;-)

I ask because as I’ve been researching F40s, some of the engine repairs/rebuilds I’ve seen receipts for have been in the $25k++ range, not including turbos. Albeit much of that was for labor.

$38k for an F40 engine, however bare, seems inexpensive for a $400k new car.

Well, since I only have 3 in stock, I'm not entirely sure ;)

Actually... in my OEM parts CD, when I click the button on F40 for "Spare Assembly Units", the 148450 item lists as "Engine complete - valid for USA". Somehow I doubt we could buy one for $38K. Then again, our UK friend stevef and I found out what happens when you actually call Ferrari on these seemingly incorrect prices: they ship you the item at the wrong/cheap price, then jack it sky-high for the next chump to come along.

How many dozen do you want?

Hmmmm, very cool, thanks. If I could really get one for $38k, that sure would cut my F40 search in half. "Ah, skip the leakdown test, I'll just order up a spare, new, engine...!" ;-)

If you have it, please provide me the part number ASAP. I am currently traveling in Italy and have very strong connections with OEM Ferrari parts. I'll see what it costs and could nearly promise that it will be MUCH cheaper than what the cost is in the USA.

Read post 104 on this thread. He already found one for US$3,300. However, if you could find it for less, let us know.

    Tim,

I guess you found two ways to fix the problem.

    1) You have a great secretary and she made a fantastic deal, but that wasn't good enough for you so you went and did #2

    2) Bought a 360 Spider, so if this happens again it will be much less expensive to fix.

Congratulations. Let's see those pictures of that triple black 360 Spider.

I read post 104 and am happy he found the part for MUCH less! Kudos to the secretary for being so resourceful!!

Just for curiosity sake, if someone can provide me with the part number, I'll check my sources here in Italy and see how it compares to the $3300 price.

Guy has been ripping off vendors from what I can see, don't know if he's ripped off customers also but it's up to the vendors who have bad transactions with him if they want to share. None of my business.
