Strange an 18 digit VIN would reuse a number from the earlier format....any thoughts?????

I agree about the street car standard thing too but it's not an 83 no matter what he bolts on it or in it. What's wrong with claiming the proper year? Nothing wrong with a 77 308 race car.

    1) This car is eligible for the Shell Historics, one of fewer than 20 Ferrari 308s which are. It is also one of the least expensive ways to get in the series. An F40 is not eligible for the Shell Historics.

    2) The chassis numbers on the 15 Michelotto 308 Group 4 and Group B cars bear no relationship with the date built. Michelotto used 15 chassis numbers, apparently from scrapped cars, for this series.

    3) This is not a converted street car in any way. It is a pure race car (or pure rally car, if you prefer).

    4) I suspect the car will sell in the near future, probably for close to the asking price. A couple of years ago these were $200K cars, but this one has been extensively gone through by the best shop in North America. When it came from Europe as a $200K car it was a two-lap wonder.

    5) And no, I'm not Mike Sheehan, and I have no involvement with him or with the car.

    O.G.

I guess what you are really paying for is a 'chassis #' that will get you in certain venues.

I can't get beyond you're not getting a full race Michelloti engine, pictures of two different engines, and the wildly false expectation that the Bosch injected engine shown will make 400 hp. With that current engine, you might could get in the event, but would be wildly UNcompetitive in your class.

Yes - those are exactly what I have as well for real Michelotto engine - note the Kugelfischer mechanical injection.

The advertised car is a chassis with a street engine. Would a 250 GTO be worth the same if it had a 250GTE 3 carb engine?

Yea, that light kit would DEFINATELY scare the cows.........

Thanks for explaining the VIN....that was a head scratcher!

So the whole frame looks to be refabbed in alloy, in the pics Matt posted.

    Impressive!

Very cool, also, how they protected the timing belts from road gravel and debris..........

Well, I do know that you have over 6,000 posts and don't even own a Ferrari. I also know that I own two of the cars listed and I'm younger than you. Scoreboard.

There is a difference in knowing history of Ferrari and just being a owner for vanity sake.

    :D

That´s probably the most pathetic post I´ve ever come across. Not just on Fchat, but on the internet as a whole.
Oh, and before you say anything: I don´t own any Ferrari, whatsoever.

Sheenan also sold one of three 308 GT/M. At what prices are those going for?

Good point. If I had that kind of money, this would be an important part.

And thanks Old Guy for the explanations about Shell Historics etc.

I have to say I do love this car (ok, I'm biased) and will have to make one like it in 1/18 scale. Nice Holiday project.

I'm pretty sure Andrew's dad lets him drive some of their fleet when he is home for the holidays.

I give him a lot of credit for not claiming those cars in his profile.

Okay, so I captured the wrong quote (lack of coffee this morning), but my reply still holds.
