    That's a very detailed explanation. Thanks for the writeup and clearing things up! How tricky is it to use the 3rd method on hills?

    I stalled the first time using the method as well. The problem is we need to let it out super slow.

    Ridiculously slow.

    Sit in your 6.0 at the stop light, start letting clutch out a second before the light turns green, and continue to let it out slow enough such that two cars to your left have passed you. Then you start rolling. THAT slow. Always, always the slowest off the line.

    It works and is fool proof if you do it like that, but I dont think experienced owners are using the factory recommended method anymore. Even though with experience you can launch faster than my example above, you will never launch at any "reasonable" pace using the no throttle method.

    Is this because of the Carbon Clutch that you have to start that way? It seems the opposite of what you normally do with a manual transmission car.

    It is not difficult at all once you get used to it. I think most owners if they try to understand why it works like it does can pick it up quickly. An hour in stop-n-go traffic and you are a pro.

    You just watch the tach and keep feeding it fuel so that the revs are at 1800 rpm or so. If you are new, you might err on the side of higher revs. 2200 rpm once or twice isnt going to hurt anybody.

    What is surprising is how much the position of the throttle will change as you do this. It takes very little fuel to spin the engine when it has no work to do and once you get a load on it, it gets thirsty quick.

    As you already know, the car is extremely tricky to keep it revving at a paricular area. I was giving advice to a possible new owner. He will not be able to make a proper launch in traffic by trying to keep the car revving at 1800rpm. The clutch on the CGT is an rpm killer when launching as you already know.
    At 3000rpm the car will launch anyway. But it will not eat the clutch that fast as you mentioned. You know the CGT has cermaic clutches and are very durable. The car would easily take those launches until he get used to a proper launch method.

    As for your theory about releasing the clutch slowly, I still have to try that.
    What I tried was releasing the clutch without applying throttle but not that slow. I will try that during the weekend and will let everybody know if it worked.

    Nope. I don't even know Ojjeh. Of course I heard of him and all the family's activities, but he's not my friend.
    However, I know of one lebanese guy who bought a black SLR. I think that's the person you're talking about. He is not my friend, but my friend who owns the GT knows him.

    I see.

    I thought it could be him as one of the sons has a -heavily- tuned Cayenne.
    He's often at Auberge d'Onex. A view friends know him quite well.
    Do you know the place ?
    Yeah, he's probably the one.

    What colour is your 550 ?

    There are only 2 Cayenne Gemballa 650 in Geneva. One black and one silver. The black is my friend's, I don't know the silver is owned by who.

    Of course I know Auberge d'Onex. It's one of the best italian restaurants in Geneva. However, I prefer Auberge de Cheval Blanc.
    My 550 is silver with black interior.

    It's the silver one. If it's a gemballa and not a rinspeed or so. I guess the roof is cut down but not sure on that.

    I go there once-twice a week, but never to chaval blanc, don't know why...

    Cool, never saw it !
    Where did you buy it from ? Chevalley, or Modena ?

    My 550 and the 360 were bought from Garage Beau Rivage in Lausanne. I ordered my F430 (delivery April) from Modena Cars. In case you didn't know, the owner of Modena Cars was the chief sales manager in Garage Beau Rivage in Lausanne. And his assistant was also his assistant there. They are very nice people and would recommend them to everyone.
    I stopped treating with Chevalley except in Mercs.
    Rolls Royce and Bentley = Garage Beau Rivage.
    Ferrari = Modena Cars.
    Mercedes = Chevalley (Carouge).
    Audi = AMAG Montbrillant.
