Fortunately my Italian is good enough that I was able to decipher the original report.

In a nutshell, he lost control of the car on a righthander following a long straight while on his way to see his brother who was waiting for him. He had only just arrived in Italy a few hours before. The car skidded off the road and overturned several times. Medical personal were dispatched, including a helicopter, but he was killed instantly. The accident occurred near Borgo Santa Rita, which is a town outside of Rome.

Very sad as he was apparently going to see his brother for Christmas. I met him at the Ferrari show at the Americana Mall in Manhasset last year.

 

My condolences go out to the families and friends who knew that great man.

Wow. I can't believe it. I saw him at the show at Manhasset in '04 and in the showroom at FoLI last Spring. What a terrible thing. My condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad . I saw a TV report on him , he was driving a red 355 Spider and enjoying it so much.
