Saw my first one at Autobahn FT/Worth showroom. Must say it did indeed look great ! Wasnt too impressed before I saw one in person. This Techart looks even better.
Any bets as to how long will it take for Ruf to put in a killer 997/996 turbo motor and rewrite all the records ?

I like the front design (with black foglights) is far nicer then stock.

Why pay what is probably in excess of 997 prices for a Cayman?

A Boxster, I can understand. It's a different kind of car. But a Cayman is a compromise on wheels. It's like a 997 purposefully netuered. Sorry... I couldn't justify buying a stock Cayman knowing that it's just there to fill a market segment. I certainly couldn't justify buying a modded one.

Actually modded it makes more sense then stock, kinda like a SLK Benz with an SLR motor in it.

The problem with the Gayman, is that it was supposed to be a simple Boxter with a roof and keep the prices reasonable (i.e. cheaper or the same as the 'vert). As it stands, I'd rather save up and get the iconic 911, then a stop gap one-off niche model with an unfortunate name.

    So true.

I inquired over the telephone about a Cayman RS, with a female salesperson at a P dealership. I told her it would be great, if they would drop the GT3 motor in that platform. She immediately said it would encroach on the 997 sales. P is not going to cut off the 997 meal ticket.

According to one of the 911 rags, it costs less money for P, to produce the Cayman in relation to the Boxster. The Cayman is priced above the Boxster. They are making much more profit on the Cayman. The Cayman has been held back, with less mechanical engine performance.

I understand that they are going to release a less expensive Cayman.

Still looks like a Bosxter with a hardtop .... I do not think the car will do well priced too close to the 997 . With only a 10K difference who would choose the Cayman over the 997 , there will be some but I do not get it ?????????
