Unfortunately, that would feed into his need for recognition. So, while I agree that he is a prime candidate based on his behavior, I think he is in a special class that deserves the ultimate in recognition. Ignore him.
I'd say Mullet Man, but in the last couple months there have been a number of other strong contenders vying for the honor.

So many choices, so little time. Do you think to win you should stil be an active poster here? OR, to really qualify, should you have been drummed out of FerrariChat.com?

BTW, I think I found a pretty good definition of troll.

An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. He (and it is usually he) tries to start arguments and upset people.

Trolls see Internet communications services as convenient venues for their bizarre game. For some reason, they don't "get" that they are hurting real people. To them, other Internet users are not quite human but are a kind of digital abstraction. As a result, they feel no sorrow whatsoever for the pain they inflict. Indeed, the greater the suffering they cause, the greater their 'achievement' (as they see it). At the moment, the relative anonymity of the net allows trolls to flourish.

Trolls are utterly impervious to criticism (constructive or otherwise). You cannot negotiate with them; you cannot cause them to feel shame or compassion; you cannot reason with them. They cannot be made to feel remorse. For some reason, trolls do not feel they are bound by the rules of courtesy or social responsibility.

Perhaps this sounds inconceivable. You may think, "Surely there is something I can write that will change them." But a true troll can not be changed by mere words.

When you try to reason with a troll, he wins. When you insult a troll, he wins. When you scream at a troll, he wins. The only thing that trolls can't handle is being ignored.

JVBJR-
I think the guy, while highly abrasive and lacks some conversational skills, truly tried to contribute in his own warped way. I think that if he knew what he knows now, he would have bit his tongue from the start and acted more accordingly. My reasoning for that comment is derived from when he tried to come back under a different screename, he was much less abrasive (although certain mutual comparisons pretty easily gave away his identity)...I don't really think of him as a troll, just someone who needs to overhaul his first impressions and social skills...But from everything that I have read (and he did post a lot in the Classic Section which is were I spend a lot of my time), he tried to make helpful remarks but he also gave some very unjust critism (and was rightfully put in his place for those critisms)

RUSSIAN M3 DUDE-
I think that his positions while IMO, are well thought out and conveyed, are not in line with most people on this site...So he gets into a lot of heated debates...Which causes a lot of people to not like him. I think that he has strong convictions in his beliefs and defends them very well, but I don't classify him as a troll either. I'm sure you can pick out a thread where he has made a personal attack, but its not the norm on most of his threads...and if your going to pick apart someone like that, you can find a comment that falls under the personal attack category under a lot of users, myself included. It just seems to happen sometimes in the heat of the moment...


I think to be awarded the prestigious honor of "Troll of the Year", you have to go above and beyond the call of duty...I'm sure there will be one guy that will take the cake, it seems like there always is.

 

Much as I hate to bring him up, WYO550 gets my unofficial nomination.

Not only for his posts here, and his continued efforts to re-join the fray after multiple bannings, but for his bang-up job on his Rob Lay and FerrariChat.com bashing on his own website. The guy is over the top.

Only problem, when you name a TOTY, then you give them what they want, more attention.

I think here, it's more of an honorific, as opposed to a true TOTY. That makes it more fun, and allows for more abuse of the recipient.

So, let's only nominate folks who are active here, tweak us up, rub us the wrong way, and generally annoy us.

My short list.

Darth - sorry big guy, but you deserve it for your endless Karen bashing and otherwisr boorins behavior.
Noah - Well, need I say more, anyone who worships Darth should get some recognition
Venusone - for rising to DARTH's bait, and bashing back in ugly ways.
RIVEE - John, I put you here because nobody does it better (whine) than you. Besides, you seem to have gotten chummy with WYO550
MATTEO - Matt, sorry buddy, your recent conversion notwithstanding, you've trolled it up pretty well here in the past.
FISH38 - Spend a minute in P&R and you'll see why he belongs on the list. Anyone who only uses FerrariCaht as a soapbox gets a nod here.
JohnLamour - For keeping us abreast of all the latest developments in his life.
Russian M3 Dude - Or whatever he's called. For his virulent attacks on all things religious, and just about everything else.

and finally,

UROTRASH - who's inane banter here keeps us on our toes, but who stead fastly refuses to get within 50 yards of a Ferrari purchase, for fear it will soil him in some way.

Can someone explain the differences between a troll and a general dipsh!t so that I know how to cast my vote correctly?

 

A troll (at best) is entertaining and is fun to kick around...like a well played game of hackey-sack.

A general dispsh!t is a breed of troll that can get under your skin, if you let them; which is why we have the "ignore" feature.

Then there's Wyo550....which is kind of like a body that still moves, long after it's dead.

 

This should be thread of the year!

To show the difference, I can post a picture of JVBJR here and not get Rob into a tight place, but posting a pic of WYO550 could easily bring another 100,000 pages of legal documents into Rob's mailbox.

So, for clarity, I'll post a pic of JVBJR and a stand in for WYO550. Hopefully you'll be able to tell which is which.
