Three cars were made : 0810, 0812, 0814 in 1963.
It's seems these cars still exist, after number of modifications.
0810 is now in it's first confirguation after beeing a 330P.

Most Ferraris are collectable...any with racing pedigree certainly so....prices are not so much thru' the roof, rather on a different planet.
Cheers

I also have some good photos of 0810 in our paint booth taken in 1988 when we did the body restoration while owned by Harley Cluxton before Mr Wang bought it at auction. www.finishingtouchaz.com

I thought there were four originally? Didn't 0816 start life as a 250P before it was uprated to a 275P?

As for price, Cavallino puts the values in the $6-7MM range.

It doesn't make any sense to put a value in a mag when none of the cars has been sold for decades. 0810 is the last one sold (to Tony Wang). Back on 19 August 1988.
0812 and 0814 are both owned by Luigi Chinetti Junior who has them reconstructed in Italy.
0816 is owned by Pierre Bardinon in France since 1970.
So, the last one sold was 17 years ago.
250 Ps are basically 250 LMs without a roof. LMs (real ones) currently sell for US$ 4 to 4.5 M (in 2005 no fewer than five changed hands).

Both 0812 and 0814 were reconstructed by Marco Baldi of Protauto in Sorbara near Modena, Italy, for Luigi Chinetti Jr.. At the request of the Ferrari factory the two cars (plus a 365 GT 2+2) were confiscated and a lawsuit was started against Luigi Chinetti Junior (claiming the cars were replicas). The factory lost the lawsuit after 3 years and the incomplete cars were released in 2003. I have the paperwork of this legal case, including the judge's decision. Here is a photo showing both 0812 and 0814.

s/n 812 has replica body and original chassis

s/n814 is a complete fake. The car is being reconstructed with a new chassis. The original burned chassis still exisits.

I think these are some of the best looking race cars ever built. Personally, I prefer the coupe.

Did either the 250 LM coupe or the 250P spider version with this body style ever run as a 330? I know it ran at least once as a 275 and not a 250...

The 250/275P bodystyle ran at Le Mans in 1964 with a 330 engine - NART entered #15 (Ch #0810) which reputedly had a 330 engine.
The Ferrari SEFAC entries #14 (#0818) (2nd OA) and #19 (#0822) (3rd OA) were both 330Ps but with a slightly different body style. The main visual difference being the shape of the rear wheel-arch scoops.

Here you go, 0812 abandoned after the fire at Le Mans 1963.

The car in the foreground is the # 15 Lightweight Jaguar E-Type of Briggs Cunningham and Bob Grossman that finished 9th overall.

Barchetta list this for 0814 at Mont Tremblant 1966:

>>>
the fire was put out with dirt shoveled onto the pyre. The front end was not burnt and the rear body was spared because it was flipped open to get at the fire. The middle part of the chassis was extensively burned.
<<<

Now compare that to this photo...

Anybody noticed the similarities?

The dirt...

Relatively little damage to the front except from impact...

Relatively undamaged rear...

The severly burnt middle part...

Confusing!

On 12 June 1966 chassis 0814 was raced in the Saint Baptiste race in St. Jovite, Canada, by Coco Chinetti and Charlie Kolb, race #3, DNF, Chinetti collided with Tom Ashwell’s Elva-BMW, the Ferrari caught fire and burnt to the ground at corner 8. In 1968 the remains of chassis 0814 were REBODIED in Italy into a strange Coupé with Gullwing doors for Chinetti’s NART, following a design by Giovanni Michelotti, prepared for road use for Robert M. Peak, Greenwich/CT/USA (Chinetti’s financial backer). It is pictured page 44 of “Cavallino” magazine, issue #52. In 1968 it (the strange Coupé) was displayed at the New York Auto Show.

Chassis 0812 was rebuilt by the factory after the 1963 Le Mans fire. Its next race was the Sebring 12 hours with Parkes-Maglioli on 21 March 1964 (1st OA).

Yes, my apologies for the mix-up.
The strange Michelotti Coupé with gullwing doors was built on 0812 (NOT on 0814 as I indicated in post #22).
