I just finished listening to Soul Meets Body by this same group. I hadn't ever heard of them until tonight, when a friend of mine sent me the MP3.
Hard to beat the Drifters, or 'the King'. Off-subject: I read somewhere that 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' was written for the 'boys' overseas during WW11... Makes you think... I'm listening to it in my head (along with all the other voices) as I type this. Keith
Joe Cocker - Feeling Alright Ella Fitzgerald - Too Darn Hot (Live in Berlin) Mountain - Mississippi Queen RMX
Well, I just got my system up and running after 9 years (I know that sounds nuts, but its a vinyl-based system, and I just hadn't had the time, energy or inclination to do all that was necessary, including re-tubing amps, getting TT set up, etc.). So, I pulled out stuff I hadn't listened to in that long- some of which was never re-released, as far as I know, on CD. Marti Jones- Used Guitars; Elmore James- a live rendition of Sunnyland on an old Columbia compilation, History of the Blues; a bit of old Neil Young (yeah, i know I can get it on CD); Dusty Springfield on a remaster single from the Colgems 'Casino Royale'; Ricki Lee Jones- from the first album, and from the EP, Girl at Her Volcano; BTW, Remix- I saw Leslie West for the first time in, say, 35 years, recently. We have a club in the little town down the road that draws alot of performers from that era. He had lost weight, looked pretty good, and played his ass off. Of course, when I saw him previously, he was playing with Felix P. and opened, if memory serves, for Jethro Tull.
Right now I'm into "Tool". A few weeks ago I was into Jimi Hendrix and a few weeks before that I was into Metellica. Who knows what I'm going to be into next.
OMG - Leslie West. Haven't heard that name in a while. Actually I hadn't thought about Mountain in years until I came across "Mississippi Queen" this afternoon. Right now: Buckcherry - Crazy B!tch Cake - Short Skirt, Long Jacket <--- great song, love these guys Guess I'm in a listening mood today. RMX
