    I know specifications of 575 M and 550M
but i saw some videos of e60 M5 going fast than 550M (but only about 250km/h speeds no record after that)

Is that true can it be ??
How could a 1770 kg sedan 500hp car can go faster than 550?
Is that same with 575 M
Any oppinions? I dont believe an m5 can beat a 575M in long straight road or highway about at 300km/h's

Well there is a vid where its at nite, a porsche turbo on the left a silver 575M ahead of the M5 and a red 550M(was cirulating the net afew mths ago)

The 575M pulls away and keeps pulling. It does catch the 550 and the P Turbo but the 550 could be could be bad driver or other...

Edit: Just checking my vid collection and I prob have the same vid. its the M5 vs 550 on a Turkish Freeway. Again rolling start and the 550 leads by half a car upto 270 then it dies.... the gear changes were fast hmm.... The run went to about 300km'h and the 550 was atleast 1 car length behind...

I know that video i am turkish saw that m5 car.
But that car is limited at 270km/h i guess but not sure that roll is end of 270km/h not 300km/h not sure but.
I saw that same car M5 roll with a 360 modena and gone to 270km/h and modena was about 5-6 cars behind maybe more. About 230 240km/h the passenger said to M5 driver
' -Man that one gone so behind something wrong'
    And driver says
' -Dont mind just record everyone see we beat '
    So not a healthy record.
But i am surprised that 550 is behinde M5.

Also i wonder what will be F430 and M6 Challenge
I think crap drivers and guy is cheating.

Yeah its 270km;h but that is with the BMW limiter, getting the car rechipped should see it too 300km'h. Tho if it got destricted what other mods has the car got... maybe...

Vids on the internet are always hard to guage, I guess we need a 550 owner to comment :)

Yeah, i think it's strange as well, but keep following things in mind :

Most M5 engines are quoted to push out close to 550 hp, not 500.
They swap gears very quickly, and are 7sp.
The 550 gets quite slow after 260-270 kmh. I saw this as well on mine, and it was confirmed by tests (AMS being the most in"famous" one).

Still, the head turner is the 550, it's the car as well you want to sit in because everything is so special about it.

If you're after sheer speed, an Fcar is not the obvious choice.

To be honest those vids were only semi-conclusive.

The fact is, the 550 was ahead until it changed into 6th I believe. We can say the 550 accelerates faster for sure. However, the BMs gearing suits straight line top-end better. It stays within its torque band during its 5-6th change unlike the 550 which has to build into it. This is due to its 7 speed box.

Over the 1/4 mile a 550 would be faster. Also, on the same run a 360 launched correctly should be faster as well. Or at least very close?

A 360 should be pulling mid 12's.. maybe 12.6? I dont think the BM would be faster than that ( of course over 1000m the BM would be long gone )

There is less than 100kg difference between the two cars in weight. The BMW has more horsepower, but less torque, much faster gearchanges and closer ratios. Any straight line race between the two cars will be close.
