Anyone has an exploded diagram of the new engine showing the new improvements over the 360 engine? Someone had posted that the new cam-timing is by chains and not belts. Is this new engine dry-sumped or wet sump?

Well Ferrari seems to have finally provided an engine with timing-chains instead of belts and hydraulic valves like the Porsches. This may mean no more valve adjustments, timing belt woes, and other major adjustment issues.

And these two items have been in use on production Maserati engines for years. One as long as ago as 1983.

The engine is extremely compact with a cylinder spacing of just 104mm. Similarly, Ferrari's engineers integrated the sump and main bearings in a single casting.

In line with the latest developments in high specific output engines, there are new 4-valve cylinder heads.

How come maufacturers keep switching from 4 to 5 or 3 (Mercedes) and back to 4 valves per cylinder?
