I just bought a 1987 Countach with 300 original miles, and I want to change the front bumper to the euro look( where do I buy it? ), I also was thinking of painting the wheels silver or polishing them or chroming them. What is the consensus. Thanks

I'm really not into chrome or polished wheels on a Countach.

But congrats on the purchase - Let's see some pics! :)

I have a Anniversary car and I also am going to try to paint the centers of my wheels silver as the new ones I ordered came in with "white" centers!

Where did you fine that gem??

  5. I would paint the wheels silver. You can buy the front bumper on ebay by extremelambo. It's a reproduction, but will work, I think it's about $400.00, or you can get an original for somewhere around $2500.

If you bought that Pearl White car then you should leave the wheels white. Triple white is awesome. Otherwise the silver looks good.

    Countach = No Chrome.

I believe Evans Automotive in Ohio has original Euro bumper and spoiler assemblies with the driving lights. It was pricey when I checked a couple of years ago. If you want the simpler Anniversary look (as shown on my car), then you can get it from Chad Bolles.

No on the chrome.......besides being tacky IMHO........chroming adds unsprung weight to each wheel (bad) and is a beeyatch to maintain and recondition when you damage a rim.

Pics please! I always figured that the 300 mile cars (F, L, any) were bought and sold for the show circuit or to be kept in a vaccuum-sealed bubble somewhere, not to be chromed up and driven! Are you nuts?!

I had never even driven a Countach, I once rode in a 1984 white on white when I was 13 years old so it was a long time ago, I own a Murci which I love , but I always heard horror stories of how hard they were to drive so I never really looked in to buying one, but after I bought the car last night I drove it home and besides the rear vision, I loved it ,I found the Ferrari 308 I drove over to the shop was much harder to drive. I was very pleased with my purchase.

  12. Looks great. Nice to see one without a wing or rocker panel extensions.

Nice car! It will look terrific once you get those bumpers off.

Front is pretty straight forward if you go with the anniversary style. More complex if you decide on the original Euro look. Rear bumperettes are pretty easy. The outside bumpers and support bars unbolt from the frame leaving the small rubber grommets which are not to bad to look at and save paint work. The two center bumpers are a little more involved as the supports need to be cut out. Leaving the center ones doesn't look to bad, but you want to remove the spacer donuts behind each one to get the bumper surface a little closer to the rear valance. The full Euro look on the back is pretty involved as well. I enclosed a picture, and the rear rubber grommets are not too noticeable.

Car looks really nice in front of your house. Good luck getting her around that fountain. BTW, wheels look great as they are.

WOW, great find. Truly one of the nicest cars in the world. As for the wheels, keep them stock is my opinion. Oh and no....NO $400 eBay euro bumpers please :(

Thanks for sharing. That car is pure sex!!!

Would you do the simple cap on one , or would you go with the complete euro style , I guess involves new grills , lights and spoiler and valance.

The easiest setup, is for you to choose the factory installed 1989 Anniversary Euro style strip. - This part is available from the L factory.

The pre-89 factory installed Euro style front bumper setup, is not available from the factory. I am sure a used set-up, can be found somewhere.

You will also have to apply silicone/filler to the areas, where it is required. I would assume the silicone, would not match the other areas of the car, that have the original silicone installed by the factory.
