The much anticipated Las Vegas event is now open for registration ... BUT ... I have to admit that I am suffering from sticker shock! There are no details regarding the events that are planned and what you get for the entry fee, however, based on what this event is going to cost I am ready for something MAJOR! Please tell me if I am being a tight wad here. We all know Vegas is expensive. The hosting hotel is the Bellagio which is always expensive. Rates are typical - $199 for Thu., $199 for Fri., and $399 for Sat. After it's all said and done (taxes, etc.) the hotel is going to run close to $1,000.00 for the three days. Next .. the entry fee. I thought last year's Scuderia Rampage entry fee was steep for what you got. Well you haven't seen anything yet. According the Exoticorso's website the entry fee for a SINGLE person and their car is $850.00. A couple is $1,500.00!! So what do you get for $850.00?? Unknown yet so I will reserve further judgement and comments until the event schedule is released. It comes down to value. It's basically $300 per day for something. If this includes meals topped off with a nice dinner each night plus track time, etc. then it is a relative bargain as far as Vegas goes. But if I have to resort to finger foods and a marginal buffet every day then there might be an issue. At the end of the day this weekend is going to cost $2,000.00 for a single person before the gambling and other miscellaneous expenses. Oh well ... no one ever said F-car ownership was going to be cheap!!
I have to agree with you on this as well. Last year the fees were much less, and the event was well done for the amount that they charged. $850 entry fee. $275 for the track day. $800 for the hotel for 3 nights. By the time you pay for food and incidentals, this is going to be a $2500 weekend. Seems a little steep to me, especially compared to last year. Anyone else think this as well??
JC, wholly molly! Bellagio rates are fine, but the lack of description on the rest is an issue. Feel free to voice concern on our behalf! MM
This is what one of the organizers posted in lamboforums.com. This is a lot more than what we got at the Rampage. I only remember a cocktail reception and a mediocre dinner at the Rampage. Although I had fun seeing and driving with all the exotics at the Rampage, I really wondered where the registration money went. If you read what the organizers of Exoticorso has planned, their event seems like a bargain. Also consider, the LV Speedway cost more to rent than Spring Mountain.
It is NOT the same group that put on the Scuderia Rampage, however, I believe some of the parties involved were also involved in the Rampage.
This is why I reserved further comment until more details were presented. It sounds like a very nice event with considerably more value than the Rampage event last year. That being said - the Rampage event was considerably less expensive. At any rate - it's all about value. Unfortunately, I think there will be a much smaller turnout due to the much higher cost of entry. The Rampage event at the Paris had a total cost of about $800 for the entry fee and hotel. The Exoticorso event will reach $2,000. Some may have an issue with that. Then again ... it is Vegas and an exotic car event ...
I heard from the Rampage guys this morning via email and there are two events scheduled - one in May and one in August. No other details were provided. I know what you're thinking Mark ... $2k is not chump change for a weekend. Almost $3k if you're a couple ... steep! Wait for Rampage?
So from what I read in the description the food and beverage service will include: 1 cocktail party 1 brunch 1 lunch 2 dinners. I am curious as to what the fee will be for the Rampage, and what will be included.
for $3k I can take another trip to europe or somewhere! JC, rampage with just some minor adjustments looks better and better! MM
I have an idea. I'm going to come up with an event called "Rio Magic." Have it at the Rio - $129 per night. Entry fee - $0. Dinner per night - $50. Lunch per day - $15. Sunday buffet - $10! Drive our asses all around Vegas and Lake Mead - free. Total cost including for three days including food - $600!
I'll be living in Las Vegas permanantly towards mid-March. I cant see $1500 for the event without knowing it's going to be one hell of an event.......
Some of these dinners are 6 courses... the details are being compiled and will be posted to the website, as well sent out via the newsletter. -a
