A search revealed nothing, so I thought I'd ask about the noise in the power steering of my Mondial t, coming from the front of the car (ie not the pump). It sounds like a cat being strangled, is worse when the car is cold, and is worse when the steering wheel is being turned, is present when it is stationary but off centre, and absent when stationary on centre.

Possibly a valve somewhere? Any thoughts, ideas, or experiences with this? It works fine btw. Maybe this is normal? I had a 92 Lotus Elan in Australia, and the PS on that sounded like a snake on steroids hissing at your feet!

My Mondial t service books and owner's guide indicate that no cats were used in the creation of the Mondial t Cabriolet or coupe. Therefore, it seems you have a minor problem - something to check out:) Can't be all that big.

    Cheers, Hank

    Hmmm, you said cat strangled?

If it sounded like you stepped on a cats tail could be the system needs to be bled or low on fluid.

If its more like kicking a cat in the ass might check your belt tension.

Hank, My car is California legal, so it does have cats :)

Fluid level is fine, but I was not aware the system could be bled....

    Thanks for the tip.

I strangle the cat to see if I could get a better idea of what you are saying. Now my kids aren't speaking to me.

    seriously: fluid level, belt tension.
