    Absolutely 1000000% true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please do NOT be swayed by a slick salesman trying to move a $45,000/6800 mile car. That is IF you want one to drive. Those car are good for towing to a concours and that is about all. Buy one of those and start driving it and it will cost you another $10,000 -$15,000 (if you are lucky) to get it road ready after things start breaking, popping and leaking badly. Pretty soon you will have a $60,000 308 that you are scared to drive because:
    a. You're afraid of what is going to break next
    b. You don't want to put any miles on it because it is "worth too much" with 6800+ showing.

Save that $25,000 and buy a good driver. If I saw one that had 62,000 miles and a stack of paperwork showing all the right trips in for service I would jump on it regardless of color.

    Gang!

I must say, I really appreciate all the advice given here. For the past couple of months researching my first Ferrari, i have found that these groups of enthusiasts are a great, helpful bunch. Maybe you guys can live through me, the excitement of getting my first Ferrari. i just can't wait to drive it up the coast of San Diego on one of our many wonderful days.

I will update this when I get my car. Hopefully it won't be 6-8 months.:)

    Thanks

    Marc

keep us updated and be sure and let us know when you're interested in one; one of us might be familiar with the car or be located close to where its location or even go with you to look at it and above all get a PPI.

My 1982 came with 16s, they were an option on Euro cars from 1981 on, I believe. In my owners manual it lists them as an option and I think they used the same book for 1981 and 1982 cars. I think 16s were always optional or at least in the Euro market.

You might not want to rule out an 83' providing you find the right car.
I have owned my 83' QV since 1998. The car now has 51k miles. It has passed Illinois emmisions tests every other year without any problems since I bought the car, and Illinois tests are now every bit as strict as California's.
The air pump is a simple GM unit which is stock in any major auto parts store across the country. I replaced the unit a few years ago for $65.00.
An O2 sensor is much more expensive to replace. Most applications require replacement in the 60k mileage range.

Or just leave it disconnected. Mine wasn't hooked up when I bought it and hasn't been connected for 9 years and 40,000+ miles.

Same in NY. And when you consider that the State is collecting tax 2x (or more) on the same item, it makes the short&curlies sting all the more worse. The original owner pays tax on the sale price, and all secondary owners pay tax again on the same (or a portion) of the original price.

Didn't we start a revolution for something like this?

Pay cash, write a bill of sale for $500 and be done with it.

Mississippi assesses the sales tax based on the value of the car regardless if it is purchased at a dealer or from an individual. Unless you can provide proof of paying the tax at the time of the sale, the tax assessor's computer adds 5% to the first tag based on a "value" determined by the Tax Commission. Value is in quotes because it is automatically $1,000 on every car more than 10 years old. The same value is used for computing property taxes. I paid a grand total of $80 when I first registered my 328 and paid $30 to renew.

This works good for older cars, but can really add up if you buy a late model used car every couple of years.
