    New lambo?
    Maybe
It´s, for me, in the same leage.
It has almost the same kind of magic, the miura because of it´s history it´s a very glamorous car, it would be wonderfull to watch it.
It will have even more power but I think it would be heavier, well built and very well finished, but for saying something against, maybe it would be less practical. To go in & out of the car and a little more "scandalous" to see and to use every day.

Not at all, I think it will be the other way around....
And the supercharger adds parasitic losses, and drag.

My gut says the 599 GTB will be a little quicker, and faster.

My dealer said that she is gonna have a face-lift + more HP (around 580/600). Geneva 2006 probably.

I agree with blucamss in the question of torque, of course the SLR has much more but not in the ratio of hp/kg, the 599 GTB is lighter for sure so as theres a diference of 6hp the ratio will go for the f. But altough this I think that the speed and acceleration will be very similar, almost the same.

Not exactly, the max hp in AMG Kompressor is measured at much lower rpms then NA engines, since at max revs these engines lose too much power.
Hence,my theory that at high speeds and high rpms the 599 should be faster then SLR.
In truth though, this whole discussion is just a collection of our guesses, will have to wait a bit longer to see the actual comparo test done by some reputable mag like Evo or CAR.

well yeah, i agree with u, in drag racing at least SLR will be faster off the line. cos acceleration (though gearing dependent) is essentially torque divide by weight, and SLR will be superior than the 599 in this respect. Top speed is harder to say, because speed is determined by drag and power, with similar power, their top speed will depend on the drag coefficient of the car. I know for one, SLR's drag coefficient isn't that good, but that's because it has plenty of downforce to aid stability. Which one will go faster remains to be seen, but i think top speed is quite irrelevant unless all you want is to play top trump.

handling wise, i'd guess the Ferrari will have the edge, SLR is too much of a compromise because Mercedes dictates it needs to have all the usual luxury, in the end, SLR is more of a dragster than a all out sports car.

    1. Who cares, it's FUGLY. Makes you wonder who REALLY is smoking something.

    2. 600 hp is where the market is going.

    3. The Vanquish replacement will have 600 HP (see above), but it'll be 08 or so.

    4. Vette? Murcie? SLR? POrSche? They'd have a tough time touching it. You get an aluminum frame and HP, but look at the price your paying- looks!

It may be a truly tremendous car, but it's not very attractive. It's a one bagger- even after screwing all night, you still wouldn't kiss her.

The improvement in Vanquish S vs previous one is minimal and cosmetic at best, makes you wonder where the additional horses are hiding because they surely are not contributing to any sizeable performance gains.
Even if they do increase the power to 600 hp don't expect a radical improvement for that "supercar" that gets it's butt kicked on a regular basis by family sedans from mass produced BMW and MB.
599 looks ready to take on cars costing almost twice as much,no one has seen it yet except some stupid distorted pics but there is already a whole bunch of "dicks" on this supposedly Ferrari enthusiasts forum, ready to dismiss a great new Ferrari just because it is not "pretty" enough in their eyes.
    What a bunch of ***s.........

    LMAO....You're funny.....:)

I agree with everyone about the Vanquish. They, Aston, did a fine job catching up with the 550 but this new one will blow the doors off the 550/575 in every way, regardless of whether we think it's beautiful or not.

Like the 430 especially, and the 612, the 599 will set a new standard because it will offer 8/10s of the CGT's/Enzo's/Zonda's performance without the headaches, with all-weather driveability, and Ferrari dynamics and soul, and it will be a true GT, all at the same time. That's rather impressive. Lambo's Miura remake might be it's only real competition if the price drops, which I doubt it will. Aston and everyone else in this league have their work cut out for them, Aston especially because they're the only one's who try to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari at this level. Their saving grace will be Ferrari's production ceiling which will insure that Aston will always have scraps to pick up off the Ferrari five-star gourmet table. As long as Aston has that glorious V12 engine note, they'll always sell something.

I'm just praying these early pictures do the 599 no justice.

    Forza,

At least the Vanquish has a cupholder.

Oh and the 599 is still ugly....not that there's anything wrong with that....

The reason us dicks are bashing Ferrari is because the current/future crop of cars are just plain ugly. (I'll give you the 430- I prefer the cleaner lines of the 360 but still looks like an afterthought).

And yes, Ferraris OUGHT to be pretty.

Ferraris used to be drop dead gorgeous cars, with performance to match:
"Wow what a beautiful car." "Thank you, it's a Ferrari, faster'n hell."

Now you have to make excuses for your quarter million dollar car: "Yeah, it's not as pretty as a __________, BUT IT'S a Ferrari....... BUT IT'S faster than a _______________. But it's....but it's...but it's.....but it's not as beautiful as a Ferrari should look like.

God damnit, that really PISSES ME OFF. Who invited the cubists to design cars these days, I thought the days of Drogo are over.

Instead of getting a (Ferrari) V12 to go along with my spider, I'm looking AT the competition.....not for performance, but for looks.....I shouldn't have to.

Am I going to sell my 360, my shirts, hats, lapel pin, MS autographed hats, visors, race winning gloves....NO. But I'm not getting a second Ferrari......and THAT is what pisses me off.

Anyway, I'm fixin to go mule deer hunting in Ol' Mexico, y'all behave.

As the old saying goes: "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".

There is no need to personally attack the opinions expressed here either way, they are after-all only your own individual opinions. Unless you have formed a club of 100% like-minded people and can officially speak for them, then certainly these opinions are not representative of anyone else except yourself.

The NEW coming CL65 AMG maybee???

I need the back lamps must be double at each side not one at each side like ther Ford T-bird
Also i can say the Vanquish S perfomance is not good as 575M.
Evo get it in 0-60 4.9 sec and 0-100 10.1
    not near a 575 m even

Think of all those situations when such a fight/"butt kick" will occur. Then think of who you would rather be/look like the other 99.99999% of the time.

It is just silly to make a big deal about relative performance for cars in this price bracket.

I don´t think generalizing is good, even this generalization isn´t. So every Ferrari is not beautifull any more, is respectable but I don´t agree. I love most of the ferraris but I don´t think everyone is nice. Maybe 612 is too different but modena and 430 I would place them in 1st and 2nd place in beauty. And about the 599 GTB in my opinion is better to wait and see it in the street. Is like a girl you´ve maybe been telling for ages that she is no so pretty seing her only in mag´s and one day u see her in a restaurant for instance, and u change your mind.

By the way I don´t think the cl 65 would be a competitor, I don´t think it would be at the same racing level.

After hearing or reading most of u I reach a similar conclusion, a little bit wider but similar. The new lambo for shure and maybe the new up dated Vanquish.

    cu all
