Fantastic photos David. The 250TR59/60 #93 is George Reed in s/n 0770TR in 1961, either the Governor's Trophy Race, or the Nassau Trophy Race. -Jarrett
I think that the 250P #10 might actually be s/n 0810 from 1963, which also carried number 10 and was driven by Pedro Rodriguez. Notice how the stickers that are just in front of the #10 are different in your pictures than in David's. There are other differences as well. -Jarrett
I have some B&W photos of Pedro driving #0794 in the Bahamas in 1962, so it is 1963 or later. The 250Ps were new in 1963 so I find it difficult to believe that Chinetti may have already purchased one and removed the roll bar/hoop behind the driver. I am more inclined to sy 1964.
The car behind Reed appears to be a Lola MkI. The number 20 TR 59/60 has a Lotus 19 or a Genie behind him.
Here some more pics from Nassau. These are labeled 1961 and appears to be accurate. Photoshop guys will like these. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those are some of the best photos I have ever seen. I wish I was around in those days. I'm afraid I have already violated your copyright and made myself some wallpaper for my desktop.
I am having too much fun doing this. Here is one for the GTO freaks! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please notice that the Shelby Cobras still have wire wheels. The number 18 car was driven by Augie Pabst. Number 41 is a Birdcage Maserati of some type. It looks like it might even be a rear engined car. The 98 Cobra is a factory team car. I believe it has Dan Gurney driving?
Hi David, I really enjoy the pictures. The GTO with #21 is 3223GT, the first GTO, most likely driven by Lorenzo Bandini. He drove in the Tourist Trophy and the Governor's Cup, but Charlie Hayes drove it in the Nassau Trophy Race. The other GTO is s/n 3387GT, the 2nd GTO. Was also entered in all three races driven by Bob Grossman and Mike Gammino. 0808 was driven by Masten Gregory on all three occassions. -Jarrett
and what looks like a Max Balchowsky Old Yeller in front of it......? And thank you for the pix David!
Here's one a little easier to see in B&W, and one where I could tweak the color a little. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's 1962 again - Ricardo Rodriguez in foreground (finished 4th) and in car Willy Mairesse (finished in hospital, as usual). Paul M
More vintage F1. I am going to get to the GT car photos soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The first one is the Belgian GP of 1960 - Phil Hill in Ferrari ahead of pale green Coopers of Gendebien and Bristow and #6 BRM of Bonnier. In the background are the two American GP cars, the Scarabs of Reventlow and Daigh. The second is Spa 1962 again, Phil Hill & Ricardo Rodriguez. Paul M
