    How much time may elapse after shutting off the engine and then checking the oil level? After a long drive today, I checked my oil level. However, I did it after waiting 2 or 3 minutes and the dip stick level showed low.

    When driving on the freeway the lbs/sq.in. stayed at about +80. When idling at a stop, the lbs/sq.in. declined to +/- 25. Accelerating from a stop, the lbs/sq.in. temporarily went to +100.

    The information needed, when did you change the oil, how much been driven since, when was the last time you checked the oil and it was OK, and how much you driven since. You should check the oil level as soon as you get out of the car and put the hood up and turn off the engine.

    The oil was changed at 3K miles (or about 1600 miles ago) which occurred about 9 weeks ago. About 70% of the mileage has been freeway with the other 30% city.

    So you driven 1600 miles since oil change. Ferrari recommend to check the oil level every 600 miles. Did you check the level and what was the level. There is a oil consumption of 2 quarts per 600 miles. How much low it showes. Ad oil very carfully after checking 2-3 times. Ad 1/2 quart first then check then ad. The amount of oil from low to high is 2 quart.
