Contrary to popular belief, I can (rarely) crack my wallet open long enough to buy something. I just can't crack it open very far....

So, last week I bought a new car! 1992 Miata with 96,000 miles. No body work, no rust, all keys, books, tools, spare never down etc etc.

You may remember I had another one just like this (a 1991 with 65k miles). I gave it to a local high school kid last summer, read story here http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=136608

I just finished putting in the eggcrate grill so I can ride around making Ferrari sounds. :)

he does have a point.don't worry;the man-loving men now flock to another
"sportscar";the dynamically awful peugeot 206CC and overtly man-loving
    beetle cabrio and mini cabrio!

    or citroen pluriel.....
anyways, the mazda mx-5/miata is a seriously entertaining car and living legend.
    something z4 or s2000 owners can't claim!
mazda must have sold their soul to the devil in order to make this car as entertaining and good as it is!
    btw,is it a 1.6 or 1.8?auto or manual?
the best,IMHO is the very basic 1.6 with the manual box.
the driving experience is seriously as good as any bmw or jap supercar.
    anyone sampled the new one?

Seeing as that's an NA, it has the 1.6.

If it's an auto, we have a felony on our hands.

yup, 1.6 and a 5 speed. I think the 1992 and 1993 were the sweet spot, in fact that's all I looked for. Revvy and flicky.... Wouldn't have a second generation if you gave it to me.

(IIRC they started putting in the 1.8 in 1994, hence disqualified for decreased revvie&flickie quotient)

(the 1990s and some 1991s had a crank problem, hence their disqualification)

I changed both rubber shifter boots, changed the turret fluid and put on a big'ol horn today in addition to the questionable grill. My theory : the smaller the vehicle, the bigger the horn.

    Nice car, congrats.

My '90 is still sitting in the garage with its broken crank waiting for another engine. I keep saying I'm going to fix it but have not done it yet.

:( The early cranks were unfortunate.

Might be quicker and cheaper just to buy another Miata!
