okay i talked to norwood and i'm not questioning thier ability to produce a turbo package in the least, probably the best out there. the cost is the big gotcha though. $7210 turbo; $9000 MOtec; $3800 intercooler. that's $20,010 WOWsers! i can buy another mondial for that.

that aside i can't imangine that mocking one up and doing the fab myself would even approach this cost, anyone? my time is moot as to cost but parts are parts. the big issue i guess would be the EFI but 9k?

looks like i've got along road to go...

I thought you were looking at carbs?

I know there were low-boost turbo setups back in the day that used the stock CIS, basically all they were was some bent pipe, a turbo and a oil feed line. That kind of setup should be relatively cheap to set up, but watch for going too lean and melting the motor. See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=134329895&postcount=15 for photos and such of a similar one.

EFI go from cheap to ohmygod. I just bought a Megasquirt and am planning on running it in fuel-only mode for a while when I convert to modern injectors. See www.megaquirt.info. Mine cost under $500 so far, figure another $300 for a wideband sensor and a wiring harness.

If you don't mind scrounging, lots of low-mile go-fast stuff on late model wrecks, like intercoolers and modern turbos.

Tons of info in this section on converting to EFI and machining this and that. See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76848 for many many ways to skin a cat.

(disclaimer -- I ain't done this yet, but I've been reading a ton over the past year or so)

The price alway depends on what you can do youself. A Motec is a great ECU, but they are expensive and so is having them make the wiring harness. You can get a motce with a flying harness shipped from AU for under $3000. A haltech E11 with a flying harness and all the sensors is under $2000. You still need injectors, fuel pressure regulator and such with both, figue another $1000....if you can wire it yourself.

A ball bearing turbo is $2000 and you'll need another say $500 maybe $1000 of tubing and such....if you can fit-up everything yourself.

A water/air intercooler is about $1000-$1500. A pump, radiator, hoses, expantion tank will run another $1000...but you'll need to make brackets, size everything youself. under about 10 psi, you can live without an intercooler or add it later if you want.

I've got myself convinced there is 100+ hp to be had in properly ported heads.

There is still a whole lot of mods not even covered by the EFI,turbo, intercooler like stronger pistons, clutch, head gasket, valves, etc. If you want something reliable. Also the stock brakes , soft springs and shocks will need to be addressed when you double the horsepower.
