Great thread guys! Keep the suggestions coming since I'm interested in taking a vacation - this time more than 6 business days. Has anybody has experience with Contiki tours? A friend of mine suggested this tour to me, and it looks interesting. I've never been anywhere off-continent (with the exception of Colombia in August 2003), and I'm interested in finally exploring the world which admittedly I should have done a while ago. Here's the link - your comments are appreciated. http://www.contiki.com/en-CA/Tours/Europe/European.Vista/Itinerary.htm
Mr Apex - don't take this wrong, but I got tired just reading that itinerary. You will see everything but enjoy nothing, because the pace of that would kill a racehorse. Remember, it's a vacation not a rally. Here's my proven (at least for us) method. Pick a country. Pick 3 - 5 places that would be cool to visit & plan to spend at least 3 - 4 nights in each of those places. Then hit the net & plan a self-tour. www.fodors.com - the travel talk section is great for planning, transportation, hotels, activities etc virtualtourist.com & tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews. Rent a car & get lost & have a blast trying to communicate & navigate. I've done it in France, Italy & twice in Spain. It's Cuba this year & Hungary/Austria next year. Ian
