After suffering through a non-functioning parking brake for years and my local mechanic not being able to fix it I decided to take a crack at it with Ric Rainbolts write-up.

After cleaning up a lot of crud, cleaning the cable wheels/pulley I figured the problem was in the caliper/pad adjustments. While examing & cleaning the area, I noticed a lot of gunk on the cap/cover??? on the bottom of the caliper directly underneath the e-brake caliper level. I cleaned the area up & noticed by flexing the e-brake lever a little fluid leaked out. I'm thinking "not good" A few of Retaining rings are broken and the adjuster cap have chisel/punch marks where someone was once before. Again, not good.

To the question: is that part below the e-brake a cap/cover or an extension of the lever assembly? I can't find it on any exploded schematic. If you have the schematic, it would be just below where #18 (caliper body) is pointing. Why would it be leaking? I do have a caliper rebuild kit, but I don't want to tear this apart unless I have to. For now, the car is not going anywhere.

    thanks,
    Clyde

Never mind. I found an explanation on Ferrari Tech. It's a plug for access to the brake lever retaining mechanism.

On the down side, I got it out according to the thread. But my replacement from the caliper rebuilding kit is too small by a smidge.

With the original with two holes in it & a too small replacement I took a shot at doing the aluminum solder over the holes. Bingo! It'll hold just fine until I can track down a replacment and rebuild the whole caliper as I'm guessing the slight leak is the known leaky brake-lever syndrome.
