Without Tom Selleck... http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/01/24/film.magnum.reut/index.html To keep it inline with the movie, I call a 360 Spyder as the car they use for the remake. Sorry if this is a dupe.
Where did it say Tom Selleck is excluded from this project? The rumor I heard was the original cast was going to be in the movie and a 430 Spider.
Sorry, my errounous assumption. I just figured since it's been 19 years since the last episode, I figured that they wouldn't be asked to be in the new movie. Aside from maybe a cameo like all the other remake movies out there.
Has the world truly run out of talent? When Hollyweird has to dig in the TV show archives to find production inspiration, what is that really saying?
It's in production now, with David Hasselhof playing Thomas Magnum. The car will be a Gallardo Spyder.
This is old news, been in the planning stages for a long long time now. The rumors go off and on about Selleck being involved. The story goes that years ago Selleck approached (Universal I think it was) wanting to do a movie. They told him to go get a hot script and they'd talk. So he got his friend Tom Clancy to write a story about Magnum as a Navy Seal going up against the N. Koreans nuclear ambitions (or something like that). He brings it back to Universal, and they balked (I bet they didn't expect him to actually bring back such a high profile written script). They wanted him to do TV movies instead, and then he balked at that. I think the studio really missed the boat on not getting the original cast for a serious movie years ago. I'm afraid now, too much time might have passed.
Will the Lambo have a little red light that goes back and forth between the headlights? Maybe for the car's voice they can get the guy who played Higgins, or maybe even TC.
Selleck just turned 61. Doing clandestine seal stuff doesn't seem quite right. How about they try to fix a ferrari with grey market parts because robin masters money has dried up.
Being someone who watched miami vice, magnum PI. I only wish they would make a remake with the real actors from the original. But I guess alot of people wouldnt go seea 61 year old jumping through windows.
I agree that, for once, they should use the original actors. I think there's some appeal to seeing what happens to Admiral Magnum after he retires from the Navy for the 2nd time. Throw in some confilict between him and Higgins becuase Robin Masters has left everything to Magnum in his will (the estate, the Mercedes, and the 575 - all Higgins gets is the guest house and the Jeep). Cast Tia Carrere as Magnum's daughter. The main story should have an old Magnum nemesis out for revenge.
Wow that sounds like a great idea. If they remake Magnum and use the original cast, I bet a lot of the guys who watched that show will go see it.
I think they could still get away with using the original actors. I wish they would have gotten Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas for the Miami Vice movie instead of Collin Farrel and Jamie Foxx. I am not even sure if Crockett's car is a Ferrari in the movie.
