Enzo did. His opinion was that he drove a 4-seater so there would always be one in Ferrari's line up

Yes, evolution is good. But that´s the point: evolution. Things changing. Aston Martin has not made any significant change to their DB7 design in 10 years. It was a very beautiful car... but its "sequels" had devaluated that great design, just like the sequels of a good film.

Now, just imagine if Ferrari hadn´t change their design since the 250GTO: we would had missed the Daytona, the 308, the F40!

I don´t love the current Ferrari line, but I prefer this to those "classic remakes" like the Ford GT, Lambo Miura... or a F430 which looks like a 308 with botox.

Let´s wait and see... maybe the next generation of Ferraris is wonderful, maybe it´s worse. But if someone at Newport Pagnell doesn´t change his mind, Aston Martins will still look the same as now. Nice, but always the same.

    Don´t forget: these aren´t cars, it´s art.

Yes design should evolve from one model to its replacement . Not have the same design on the whole line up and just tweaking a few details or adding 2 more doors.

What is wrong with this sentence?

I happen to think the 612 is stunningly beautiful. Not fact, just IMHO.

Didn't you say that already? And I think there's no "blame" per-se, oh and finally the camera doesn't position itself, the photographer does that.

no matter how you position the camera, what camera you use, the lighting, put dozens of hot models on the 612, see it with your own eyes etc, the 612 will never look good.

    Could not agree more.......

BTW- A 150 mile 612 was auctioned in geneva a few weeks ago for 146K euros ($175,000). There has been speculation that the 612 will be in 5 digits over the next 2-3 years.

From my own perspective, and in my own opinion, there's really not one thing wrong with the 612. Well, it could use a slightly better A/C system, but what Ferrari couldn't?

There's no other car made I'd want to drive across the country. It eats up the highways and back country roads almost as well as it's "lesser" siblings, or any car from any other manufacturer. And it's comfortable and quiet enough inside to go 500 - 600 miles/day for days on end. I'd not want to do 10 400 mile days in a row in a mid engine car, even if I could cram all my stuff into it.

I find it to be not the most beautiful car in the world, but it appeals greatly to me both inside and out. It makes me smile with happiness and pride every time I see it. It's makes me and my wife happy, and when all is said and done, that's what counts. Not someone else's opinion. There's no other car out there right now or in past that can do what this car does for us, and for that, we thank Ferrari.

Here's a couple more pics of the car on this latest trip. We're half way, having just arrived in Daytona from north of Seattle.

eric - your car looks great. I am glad you are putting a lot of miles on it. I have only seen a few 612's in person and they always look so nice. I actually think the 612 looks good in pictures too.

I love the looks of the 612, I just think it need a new set of sporty wheels, and a few sporty line added to it. It just looks to tame to me.

The problem with the 612 is that is is just ugly no matter how you slice it. Obviously, just my opinion

Nice comeback, kick Lamborghini to the curb because Ferrari has lost it's styling direction.

"Aston can do it every time???" What planet are you on? Aston has done it once- the DB9, maybe thrice if you include the Vanquish in black and the AMV8. But these are all basically the same design.

The past Astons are nice cars but they're nowhere near Ferrari's legacy of the last 15 years, let alone the last 50. They're not even near the E-type.

If they do the Rapide, i.e. a stretched DB9, they'll have an arguable 3 truly stunning designs, but as I said, they're still the same design.

The 456 is just barely in 5 digits and its almost 15 years old and barely half the car the 612 is.

My friend, one example does not reflect a trend. Check the prices on Ferrariclassified, Ferrariusa, Dupontregistry, or even ask our own JASLally how much his sold for and how long it took to sell.

Maybe a high-mileage, 6-speed will be 5 figures in 7 years. It would be interesting to see the depreciation rates for the 456 over it's 10 year run. Obviously steep declines at first but there are still several specimens commanding six figures.

I had a 612 on order for june time frame and just cancelled the order this week. In short, I like the car, but I am not quite in love with it. It's mostly the exterior that doesn't quite do it for me.

    I saw black/black, black/tan, silverstone silver/tan, blue/tan.

    I ordered silverstone silver/tan.

I didn't think that 612 is ugly by any mean. I just wasn't completely in love with its look. Ferrari should looks inspiring, but 612 doesn't do that to me.

It drives great and is very comfortable. The interior is very nice.
It's a perfect car from a driver seat.
