I never located anything off the shelf that came close to the volume of the stock unit on my 78. I don't recall what it was anymore.

Note sure what stock on the 308QV is, but this unit is 1.25 quarts and that seems ?good? enough. Anyone? Anyone?

Is there any interest in a stainless steel expansion tank? I am just testing the water here...any comments..
    It would be for 308 I & 328.

I just had mine fixed a few weeks ago, seems like a very common problem. Stainless might be a good solution.

Sure if it is a direct replacement at reasonable cost. MANY OF US are suffering pin holes and the like from the stock unit. If you build it, we will come :)

Try an early model (63-67) Corvette aluminum tank. Just about same volume size tank but a little rounder. Need to make a bracket. Look in Hemmings for places that sell them. Enjoy the ride

NYCFERRARIS; A radiator shop can fix it. Just had mine repaired for a pinhole leak- he cleaned it in a chemical bath to remove the rust, then reinforced the entire area and pressure tested for about 18-20 psi , then repainted it black.- $50. Done the next day.

Tried JB Weld and it worked for a bit, but other holes appear. Agree, time for a rad shop visit.

It seems like there is a market & I'm going to explore it.
First order of business is see about mechanical drawings, then a fabricator shop. I will keep everyone posted.
Again My main focus will be the 308 I & 328...as I believe they are both the same configuration with the exception of the AAV mount under the 308qv & 328..

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I know for certain the 308 has 3 variants. Non-emissions carb, emissions carb and the injected cars have one or more, no idea there. So be sure to clarify which one you're offering; Superformance wasn't aware of the emissions carb variant, so the one they sell for 308 carb is actually only for the non-emissions models.

    Thanks Don..

    I am exploring The "308 I & 328"../ basically the 308 Injected 2v/308 qv/ and 328.

these all appear to me to be the same w/ the exception of the AAV mount for the qv & 328. Again if I understand it correctly

I had the same problem with pin holes in the tank... I had already had the tank repaired once, so bit the bullet last year and had one made, in polished aluminium, to pattern.

    If you are interested,try:

Promotasport are based in the UK, although the tank is so light it wouldn't cost much to ship. They made a nice job of it. The tank wasn't a direct copy, due to the welded seams, but it fits directly and gives the right impression.

NOTES: my car is a carburettor engine, so check your header tank isn't different.
I do have engineering drawings for the tank, but they are .TIFF format and will not upload. Promotasport will doubtless have copies.

    I hope this is helpful.
