I am designing something which requires an articulating tentacle which can bend along 1 axis. The best way I've found to do this is by utilising a fishing rod type mechanism. You know how when you pull tight on the fishing line of the rod, say your winding it really tight, the rod is forced to bend to accommodate the contraction of the line? This is how I envisage implementing my evil robotic tentacle. My question is, does anyone know what I would need to Radio Control a servo motor that would drive the "Fishing spool" backwards and forwards? I just need a simple forwards backwards thing. Nothing fancy. Any help would be appreciated and I will post videos of the tentacle design once its done.
Thanks I will keep that in mind for the power source. The power source has to be very tiny as well. Are the batteries for this kind of thing small? A fair amount of torque from the motor will be needed so im not sure weather that affects what kinds of batteries would be needed. The batteries would not have to last very long as this is more for a show than regular use. But I dont even know anything about the motor or the RC component yet so any other info would be appreciated if anyone has any expertise on the RC motor component.
ERY FOR THE POWER, DC YOU CANT USE A LANTERN OR D BATTERY YOU MUST USE A RECH GELL CELL BATT AGAIN, YOU NEED A ENGINEER TO FIGURE OUT TORGUE AND POWER GO TO WWW.POWERSONIC.COM TO SEE WHATS AVAILABLE YOU NEED A HEAVY AMP BATTERY AND A CHARGER GOOD LUCK, BRUCE
