What is you best advise as to how to present your case to get a raise. My director needs to hear details on the topic. Any specific points to mention, etc?

That should work like a charm !! lol !!

Seriously, try and bring your value in terms of numbers.

Whatever you make, deduct from what value and profit you have brought to the company in terms of $$. Hopefully you are only 10% or under, if not, it doesnt look good from a numbers prespective.

Yo, Dave, it ain't the cars but the house cranking up the bills. I need a new roof, the entire house replumbed, etc. Expenses for all 4 of my sports cars totaled don't come close to home maintenance costs.

As an employer I would suggest trying the old fashioned method. Simply be the best employee they have and the money will follow. No offence Farmer but nothing turns me off more than an employee wanting more money simply because they need it. I need it too, but I have to work for it. So should the employee. I also hate the concept that if you pay me more you will really see me motivated. BS, show me now and then I'll think about giving you more money.

Put yourself in his hush puppies. What have you done to deserve it? What value do you bring to the table? Sell him, don't tell him.

I once had an employee that came into my office and said, I bought a new car and my bills are way to high I need you to pay me more. So I told him should I start telling the customers we have to charge you more cause the boss wants a ferrari.

I told him he does a job that is worth his replacement cost which was $9 bucks an hour, If he wanted to earn more he need to do a job that was worth more to me. Sad but true. make yourself worth more and if they dont realize it, quit and go somewhere else.

Nice guys finish last. Thats all i have to say about that. Do your job, do it well, nothing wrong with being passionate about what you do. Listen twice as much as you talk and most importantly--MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!!! The rest will come almost naturally.
