I've heard that pre 3.2 Mondial OEM wheels are hard to replace. Why and what are good options?

Hi Fazioli, They are are metrc wheels with expensive TRX tyres.
Why dont you go for Mondial T wheels, they are 7x16" and 8x16" with 205/55 front and 225/55 on the rear.

    That's what I did.

See this thread it may help you out.

Yes, they are metric. I doubt the wheels are hard to come by or expensive (I have an extra set) but the TIRES are VERY hard to find and expensive..like $400+ IF you can find them. I agree, get a set of 3.2 wheels and tires.

The car also looks better with the 3.2 wheels, IMO.

I hate to admit this but, I had a Ford EXP that had the metric wheels with the TRX's. I had to drive about six weeks with a spike twisted through my sidewall before a new one arrived.
    Gorgeous car, by the way.

Does any one know whether the 16" wheels from a 3.2 will fit on a 1982 Mondial 8? The '82 does not have ABS as do the later models. I have an '82 & will need to replace the tires soon & am considering my options. The TRX tires are available from Koker Tire & as was staed above they are approximatley $400 each.

I believe that they do, bolt right on. Perhaps a search can confirm. Good luck.

The 3.2 wheels should bolt right on without the need of any spacing or other monkeying around. Also, the 3.2 wheels maintain an original look for the Mondial. I believe the fronts are 7 inches and the rears are 8 inches so be carefull you get the proper combination.
