    If you haven't heard national news, there was a terrible crash in Los Angeles where a sports car plowed into a medical clinic waiting room.

    First thing out of LAPD's mouth: "It was street racing" and the news media runs with it with a spiteful slant toward 'those evil sports cars and the kids who street race'

    Then..... the LA TIMES published this story which has the police backpeddling;

    "Initially, police thought the car, a black Nissan 300 ZX driven by Ijumaa Owens, 33, of Hawthorne, had been racing a white Lincoln Town Car and lost control. By late Friday evening, however, police said it appeared the cars were not racing but that the Lincoln Town Car had been driving at high speed and plowed into Owens' car, pushing it into the clinic."

    A reasonal department would have said, "We're trying to determine the cause of the crash as more details and witnesses come foreward." However, through the eyes of the LAPD, there was a sports car involved, therefore it was street racing. What if... it had been mini-van pushed into the clinic? Would they still reach the same conclusion of street racing? Anyone else notice this?

    Hey... nothing will get your blood flowing like a Lincoln Town car challenging you to a street race. I read the story and wondered... "A LINCOLN??"

    Anyone remember the old song, "Hot Rod Lincoln?" Who can name the singer? :)

    Was an LAPD guy named and quoted? It could have been the media making it up. It wouldn't be the first time. I haven't really followed this one.

    Commander Cody 'covered' the "Hot Rod Lincoln" song.
    It was originally recorded late '50's -early '60's as a country tune.
    I forget the artist...but it wasn't Major Lance!:)
    Somebody''s going to have to google it...

    Oh definitely. Everytime I'm out in my towncar the civics, stangs, and 300ZX's line up to race me. :)

    RacerX no matter where you go there will always be a bias for something. In this case its because a car is meant for speed, it was assumed that it was and a speed contest none the less. I've heard stories of people getting pulled over just because they had nice cars and the cop wanted to check it out... Unfortunately things like this will probably always happen.

    Every time there was a mid-night crash on the freeway around here (with anyone under 30) it'd be written up as follows:

    High performance sports car veers out of control during organized street race killing pack of endangered coyotes.

    Los Angeles- A group of animal activists are enraged after Juan Ortega lost control of his four-door sports car while participating in a speed contest on the 101 freeway early Sunday morning, striking a group of Coyotes that had not seen the other side of the freeway in over 10 years. Juan had exceeded the speed limit by ten miles per hour in his Nissan Maxima while trying to overtake a car in the next lane and claims to have run over an object that punctured his tire, sending him off the road. There were no human casualities reported.

    reminds me of a few years back when angel dust was in, every time the LAPD would beat somebody up they would claim the guy they beat up was on angel dust and out of controll, as soon as id hear that i knew it was bull****
