Ok - I saw this symbol on a watch dial - and now I am going insane by not being able to identify it - so to stronger minds I ask I do not know if it is company oriented, religious, spiritual, etc. I have looked at almost every symbol/pictogram site and book and could not find it. It most closely (and may be related to or with Neptune (the symbol of the pitchfork kind of thing but typically has just a straight line crossing over the bottow of the fork). Anyone known or seen this symbol before... PS... Really pathetic art skills - but this should give you the idea of what it looks like ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The doors and windows in my room just started opening and slamming shut by themselves. The power of christ compells you!!
Where on the dial? What kind of watch (dress or sport) and what shape was the face (rectangular or circular)? I have a 2005 collector watch catalogue and may find it in there. How is that Lambo working out? Do you miss the 355?
In nearly 20 years of being around watches and watchmakers, I have never seen it. Maybe somebody's kid was playin around and their father had it printed on a dial of a watch. Was there a brand name listed on the watch? Or on the case back?
haaaaaahahahahaaaaaaa That is hilarious. --- The minute hand is at high noon, the hour hand and second hand have both slipped out of the socket. --- (resumes cracking up)
It closely resembles the symbol used by performer "Prince" when he changed his name to, whatever it is that symbol means; but his fans refered to him as "The Symbol"
You guys are really funny It is on an Omega Seamaster Deville - 1940's. And I have looked in all my watch collectors guides, etc. As well (don't ask) a book of Symbols (which has 20,000 entries). Interesting... Why is my head spinning around and around PS. Here is a pic of the watch... which should clarify my terrible drawing... I have to assume it is from an organization/company perhaps - many (usually not in the 40's however) Omega made special order watches for years of service, events, etc. - but this symbol is not anywhere I can find. HA HA - Posted one before you even hit enter... Ohh now I see you are a Smart ASP aren't you... I did qualify my non-artistic abilities in the first post
Ahhh.... the symbol for Mars, male virility and all that. Times THREE!!! As the Brits would say: "Grinning like a three cocked dog".
here try here: http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/05/index.html also found this: OMEGA's traditional dress watch line. After the Constellation series changed focus to a style flagship line, the DeVille series has become the horology flagship line. The current DeVille line is divided into several series: the DeVille Coaxial, DeVille Prestige, DeVille Symbol and DeVille Classic. Of these, the Coaxial is the newest, featuring the Daniel's Coaxial Escapement--the most significant advancement in mechanical wristwatch technology in many decades. The remaining series of DeVille models mostly use the same movements used across most OMEGA model lines. The differentiation between these DeVille series are the case and bracelet styles. The "Symbol" derived its name from the first models in this design bearing art symbols--such as the oriental Yin-Yang--on their dials. Very few watches in this series bear the DeVille name on their dials. The DeVille line keeps to very clean, classic designs. So dial labeling is normally kept to an absolute minimum of one or two lines of descriptive text. The DeVille Coaxial Limited Edition is the one notable exception. OMEGA broke from their normal tasteful conservatism by issuing the initial coaxial models with its dial cluttered with four lines of descriptive text, including one over the OMEGA logo and name.
possibly a variation of the trigram, the circle represinting earth with the north arrow pointing to water and earth and metal on either side.
its a Masonic symbol meant to signal fellow masons to secure hidden treasure .......I cant say more at risk of being punished...when you encounter another mason you are to exchange clues and secret rites. MM
That's the international symbol for "somebody stole this watch from Horsefly". Just mail it back to me, no questions asked. And thanks.
The Symbols.com site is also the book I have (printed version). Seems like probably something to do with Neptune (which could make sense) - This is a seamaster watch. I think I am going to go with the Circle is the earth - and the other symbol is the guardian of the sea... I have not seen that blurb on the Deville series - thanks that is very informative...
I could probably buy this watch from you for 40 - how's that for a low ball offer? (man I wish I could make smileys...) Interesting symbol though...
