I think most people, including those that drive Chevettes, know what that little prancing horse signifies. One would have to be legally blind to not know the difference.

But then all of this conjecture is based on photographs. Why not wait to see the car in person?

You should have used a picture of a new Z06. It has air ducts for the rear brakes just like the 599.

Just from the photos, I think Ferrari just built a more luxurious Z06. :) Can't really judge until I see the real thing though.

With a traditional set of 5-spoke Ferrari wheels this car will be exquisite, especially in Rosso Corsa. But these wheels absolutely destroy the lines.

It reminds me of the Jaguar XK8 that originally had those stupid wheels. Change the wheels and you liberate the natural beauty of the XK's lines.

Ferrari probably put those hideous things on there to force people to buy the modulars. LOL.

Recent Ferraris, beginning with the 360, have been decidedly un-photogenic. I believe it's because the lines and shapes are more 3-dimensional than on previous models. When I first saw the 360 I thought it looked like a spaceship or something equally outrageous. It broke new ground.

The Enzo and 612 are similarly 3-D and only in outdoor, "live" shots does their beauty and intent become clear.

With proper 5-spoke wheels and in rosso corsa this will be a stunner in traditional Ferrari 250 GT et al fashion.

    Forza,

    Cavallini

But will it have the highest tier of interior finishes that a Corvette has? GM spares no expense to make sure the finest of plastics are used in its dashboards and controls..... makes me almost want a corvette.....yeah right.

    A 360 or 430 are rarely confused.

Looks childish. What has happened to Italian design? Lamborghinis are being designed and (largely) built outside of Italy and Ferrari keeps coming up with Japanese wannabe designs.

Not really impressed by the new Ferrari Corvette. Doesn't quite have that elegant style IMO. Not sure if potential Fcar GT clients are fond of the recent designs, but personally i think they're looking worse with every iteration.

It's just ugly. Simple as that. Many find it hard to say that Ferrari have made an ugly car but there have been plenty in the past.

What a great line up they have currently ... not; the ugly 612 and 599 and questionable 430 (although the best of this bunch by far, but I will never like the rear).

Motorbikes have gone the same way with this edgy and thus ugly styling. For example have a look at the 2005 Suzuki sv650s versus the lovely curvy 2002 sv650s. And this is just a simple middle of the range bike. Have a look at the new Yamaha R6 also ... was once close to the most beautiful bike ever!

It is time these designers stopped following fashion and designed things that look good. The air exit on the 599GTB, behind the front wheel, is just completely revolting, especially how it has to fight the other lines and cause a visual twist.

Just about every modern Ferrari has god aweful standard wheels ... some of the wheels/rims on the 612 are hideous, would not put them on my Toyota Tarago people mover; they look sooo cheap.

One looks at the 599GTB, the 612 and then at the current BMW 5 series ... and all that you can really SAY is that Bangle got it right, as while his cars have edges the 5 series flows (not sure about the 3 series though).

I think with all the **** that is going down in our world at the moment, it is time we allowed something to flow and get on with it's neighbour (the next panel/shape) ;) ... lets return to flowing shapes and STYLE.

I agree, it really doesn't look like they stole the looks of the Vette too much. I guess they like Nissan 350Z's a little better. The lines look very similar in the photo. I'm sure in person the car will be much nicer....at least I hope so.

Has anybody checked the resume of the 599GTB designer/stylist?

Probably find his last project was at Nissan ... ;) ... and I'm sorry the Nissan 350Z is hardly beautiful.

Perfect....You are right on the money. It is childish.

It appears that the tables are turning. I guess Ferrari owners really want to be Corvette owners..Judging how Ferrari has basicly taken the Z06 and added a differnt badge and bumpers...funny how the tables turn.

Yep childish is right. Lacks class and style ... never mind it will soon be forgotten, like a Ford Mondeo.

ps: I wonder if all these poor (IMO) recent designs are an attempt by the employees to kill the float of the company?. After all I would not invest in the company at the moment with the school kid designs that are being produced.

I agree 100% as well... I see too much C6 when I look at the 599

Not feeling the overall look of the current Ferrari line-up either

    IMO, design-wise:

    360 > 430 > 355

    456 >> 612

    550/575 >>>> 599

I dislike front engine cars and Ferrari did really bad when they stop the 12 cylinder rear mid engine layout, also what were they thinking when they took the 512TR and did the 512M outside design and to top it off then they came up with the front engine 550. Some things don't make much difference to some, but this now cannot be ignored and maybe owners like the ones here in FerrariChat should let Ferrari know that they are heading in the wrong direction. Why do we have to buy or consider to buy an ugly car, even if its a Ferrari, period.

    Guys,

    These cars have modern aerodynamics.

Particularly with front engine cars, the design is going to be influenced by the aerodynamics. The 612, for instance, as many of you know, has a really long nose with empty space in the front so that the engine can be closer to the middle for better balance and handling. The same is true with with the 599. All the scoops and so on are functional. (And saying it resembles the Corvette IMO is not much of dis. The Corvette, even though ubiquitous, is a great looking car.)

Fact is that with a front engine GT, your styling options are extremely limited. If you want something bulbous and sexy, you're going to lose speed, it's that simple. Look at the DB9 - yeah it's hot, but if Ferrari made something that slow, you'd all be *****ing about its lack of performance.

I'm not saying you can't get a streamlined sexy look that also doesn't perform well. But what front engine cars that are currently made perform like the 599 and look better? There's that Maybach coupe: fast, but quite, quite hideous. The Vanquish looks good but is much much slower than the 599. The list goes on. (And ultimately it's a matter of personal preference anyway.)

Would a "modernized" 275 or 250 GTO, with that sweeping rolling bonnet, look good? Maybe.

But maybe not. Ferrari would have to add all sorts of scoops and beefed up front and rear spoilers and so on, and it would end up looking really stupid IMO. I love those cars. But they are what they are. Aerodynamics and engineering have come a long way since then. The new science requires new designs. And in any event, even though Ferrari could probably reinvent a fast, front-engined GT car a la GTO, I'm glad that they're one of the only companies that continues to try to come up with new designs rather than reinvent their classics.

I still think that a modern GTO, with all the modern requisite hood scoops and spoilers and fat tires, would look ridiculous and be an insult to the original.
