I was talking about the looks, also the front engine design isn't the reason as to why a stock 550 is a better performer than a stock TR or cheaper to maintain. I used mine daily and it did perfectly and its very comfortable. Also the car is only as good as its driver and most drivers are not as good as to exploit a Dino, people buy a lot because its the latest thing or because it did this at a track... Who cares, a lot of people do an thats too damn bad.
Is it always what Ferrari wants, what about the future buyers? No loyalty for us? We don't need to be ashame by driving an ugly and expensive Ferrari, I don't like corvettes or vipers, but Ferrari could built something more or less like that and not a Ferrari designers version of a tiburon or a pacer for Gods sake.
I'm sorry Ferrari couldn't build a car specially for you. They're regular lineup has 3 very different cars, not including the limited production models, for this very reason: to appeal to different tastes. A 2+2; a 2 seater, front-engine V12; and a mid-engine V8. This is a lot more than can be said for most marques in this league, which only make one type of car (Lambo, Aston Martin...) If you don't like anything that Ferrari has to offer, maybe you should try buying something else. There's a lot out there right now.
Above the question of what looks good and what doesn´t, Ferrari needs to be applauded with their Enzo for daring to be bold. Let´s face it, this car features extreem design and extreem design will AS PER DEFINITION not be to anyone´s liking. Others will find it stunningly beautiful. Besides that, the fact remains, the Enzo-design is hugely purposeful. Same goes for the 599 GTB. Allthough I find it ridiculous to assume it´s design is based up on the Corvette (take any car, and you will find some resemblance. One somewhat more than the other), the 599 GTB hasn´t fully grown on me yet. I do know this is no car for flashy colors.
Why argue with people who are set in their opinions? They don't like the car period,so what? They are not going to buy it,will get a Vette or a Lambo, good for them, both great cars on their own. What is interesting to me though, that the unquestionably most succesful and recognized sports car Brand as Ferrari is ,on it's "enthusiast" site attracts so much dislike and outright hate from some of the posters here. Stuff like that is never seen on any Lamborghini or Corvette Forums(maybe because it would not be tolerated and the poster would be immediately banned.) Well,Ferrari will take all these criticisms and will sell every one of these beauties with a big waiting list to spare..
Looks like they just updated a 355 to 2006.. Looks like the 355 and corvette decieded to have a baby..
First your not comparing apples to apples... "Corvette" is not an auto maker, its a model. Im sure if we had a 355 site only for 355's of course your not going hear anything bad about it, its a 355 site. And yes you see stuff like that on the GM chat site. You point on lamborghini may have a little justification, but they dont have as near many models as GM or FERRARI
Corvette is so well established Brand that it stands alone form the rest of Chevy cars,Lamborghini is a directly intended, not very succesful in the past, more so nowadays, competitor to Ferrrari. "Appples to Apples" ? I never made that comparison, reread my post which was more about the "culture" of this Forum.
Well, No matter what you drive you had better get used to seeing 1 view of the car only. The back! 620 HP later, thats the only thing you'll see if you're lucky. I think the car looks great in pics and I have yet to be disapointed with any F-car once I see them in person.
I think people need to take off their Ferrari tinted spectacles. The car is an aesthetic disgrace of GARGANTUAN proportions: 1. the front lights look frog-like 2. The front overhang is too short 3. the front wings look deriviative (612) and slab sided and don't mesh correctly with bonnet causing angled headlights 4. The car sits WAYYY too high (same as a stock 430) 5. the gaping front intakes on left and right are just HOLES.. there is no aesthetic quality to them at all. 6. The bonnet curve at the very front it too sharp 7. the rear butresses are MASSIVELY confused 8. the single tail lamps at the rear have lost the exotic quality and look... BORING. 9. the rear diffuser is necessary but cheap looking - perhaps it should be body coloured/CARBON FIBRE 10. THE WHEELS... eeeeeeeruuuuuuurrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!! 11. THE PROPORTIONS!! There's no sexiness, no litheness, no ELEGANCE to the design. There IS aggression but that's it. The 550/575 were LITHE.. sharky, sexy. The Testa was low, wide, lithe and dramatic.. The 275 was elegant, graceful, BEAUTIFUL... And the 288/250 GTO's.... well they just got EVERYTHING right. A Ferrari should be instantly recognisable as a Ferrari, it should be low, sleek, sexy, almost sexually suggestive... LIKE THE FERRARI F355! This car is just ABSURD. Designed (and signed off) by commitee I'm afraid. Would Enzo Ferrari have signed off such a ridiculous looking car???? I think not.
Not the first time that this has happened. Will somebody please post side by side pics of a Daytona and C4? Personally, I wish that they had made it look like the Prodrive race car. That would have been a bad ass mofo. Dale
i have to agree with that! What happened to the days of sexy aggressive Ferrari designing such as the F40 and the 355? Cars which have PRESENCE! .....Thought those days were coming back when they released the CS....but then they produced the 612 (not even going to comment on that one). Although everyone says they grow on you / look better in the flesh - i think id rather look at a pic of a 612 than in the flesh...and the Jurys out on the 599 Where do Ferrari recruit their designers from these days? Hyundai???
Absolutely. And it's perfectly logical to assume that Chevrolet and many others have copied and borrowed from Ferrari for several years now. This latest Vette looks like a 456 and a 550. Forza, Cavallini
Call me crazy, but I like to make up my own mind. I sure as hell don´t need you to tell me what to like and what not to like. Here´s a little secret: I happen to think the Gallardo is a designers disgrace. Big deal huh?
Other pic of the same ferrari 599 http://www.forocoches.com/foro/showthread.php?t=360489&highlight=foto+del+ferrari+599+gtbat fiorano racetrack.
I've said this in other 599 posts but as Corvette has come up again: One "Criticism", that the 599 has a similarity to the ZO6 is interesting. My T-70 bears a similarity to my P 3/4 as it does to my MK-IV. In the metal these cars look quite different as I feel the ZO6 and the 599 will, but there are many technical solutions that are the same because both cars were designed with the same parameters as were my T-70, P 3/4, and MK-IV, to win at Le Mans. (ZO6 and 599 in class). The 550 and 575's have made great race cars and the 599 will be even better. Ultimately The buttress acts as a winglet on a F1 car creating vortices which serve to accelerate more air downward and thus create more down force, which of course then in turns helps the diffuser to work more efficiently. The subsequently channeled air (which would thus experience a pressure change) could in turn help to keep more air attached to the rear of the car and thus create more down force. It is interesting to note that the 599 needs no active spoiler a la the Merc SLR - another car with a similar mechanic layout and cooling solutions which would not be legal at Le Mans.
Why so much passionate complaint about a car that is clearly a pre-prod version in a stupid colour with camo effect on buttresses and wheels? At least wait for the show cars to turn up before totally writing this thing off! Some of the complaints in this thread are just plain silly:- e.g. 'the car sits too high' - well you can just lower it then... 'the wheels look crap' - well you can just specify the modulars then... etc etc Hogwash.
The front of the car is just not that strong. And it needs it´s butresses coloured, and no flashy colors. I´m still not convinced.
