Link includes an 'A-' script review of the first act of 'Casino Royale'. Major Spoilers, don't say I didn't warn you: http://latinoreview.com/scriptreview.php?id=19

Spoiler free summary: I've seen all of the movies and read all of Fleming's books. Judging purely by the script, this could be the best of the series. At least the grittiest. It is an origin story, like 'Batman Begins', in which the past films are essentially wiped away. Bond has just been made a '00' agent and is not as refined as he is later. It is also established how Bond gets his Aston Martin. And for those that have read the book...yes, the scene is in there.

Aston Martin? Wasn't he on the 70s show? Is he still with Demi Moore?:)

I wanted to see 007 get his DB5 not something from today! I guess all that high tech stuff wouldn't have worked if they had timed the script in the '60s!

I guess this is really an all new begining for Mr. Bond!

Saw the link this morning on Commander Bond.net. Can't wait to read it tonight when I have the chance...

I'm really hoping someone will leak the actual script.

"The scene" is there in there? Excellent... I'm just worried about this eventually becoming extremely dated because it cashes in on the whole poker craze that the world is in right now. Baccarat has always been a high-stakes, elegant game - that has never changed and probably never will. They should have stuck with the Baccarat angle, IMHO.

After reading the Ian Fleming books, I can hardly watch the movies anymore. I hope this one does the series some justice.

Having read that review, I don't believe I'll be in a hurry to see the movie. Plus, this new James Bond is the actor who detests firearms. Right?

Yeah, Daniel Craig doesn't like guns. But he IS an actor. Have you seen 'Layer Cake'? 'Road To Perdition'? Daniel Craig may not like guns, but he can ACT as though he loves them.

Wait a minute, I thought the original CR was the comedic spoof with David Niven. You mean, this is supposed to be a serious movie ? The book is serious ?

    Best I remember:
Yes - the original Casino Royale was a spoof cashing in on 60's camp with David Niven as James Bond (there's a trivia question!).
And the evil mastermind bent on taking over the world: Woody Allen.
Actually a nice theme to CR by Herb Alpert, I think.

I think the new movie is quite serious.

    FrostyAK,
No, I haven't seen any of his movies, and yes, he's an actor who likely will do a fine job; however, as I have more or less had it with most Bond films, it would be a waste of my time to see this one.
