Quebec to appeal Homolka court ruling

The Quebec government announced today it will appeal the ruling that struck down all 14 court-imposed conditions on schoolgirl killer Karla Homolka.

The announcement comes just two days after a Quebec judge ruled that Homolka can go where she wants, and associate with anyone she pleases, including known criminals.

"After having analyzed the judgment, the decision has been taken to appeal the judgment of Mr. Justice (James) Brunton in the case of Karla Teale Homolka,'' Justice Minister Yvon Marcoux said Friday as he entered question period.

More details are expected later in the day.

Homolka, 35, was released from prison in July, after serving her full 12-year sentence in the manslaughter deaths of Ontario schoolgirls Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy.

Tim Danson, the lawyer for the families of Homolka's victims, was quick to urge the Quebec government to appeal Brunton's ruling.

"They're concerned because the last thing that they want, having regard to what happened to them, is that Karla Homolka acts out again," Danson said of his clients.

"And in my view, it's just a question of time before she hooks up with another (Paul) Bernardo or (imprisoned boyfriend Jean-Paul) Gerbet or someone of that kind, and if that happens, as I say, all bets are off," Danson said Thursday.

Christine Carretta, whose sister was killed by Gerbet, Homolka's prison lover, also criticized the lifting of the restrictions.

"We lost hope, you know, in the criminal justice system,'' Carretta told CFCF News in Montreal.

"We just don't understand what's going on. One judge says something, another one just decides another thing.''

The restrictions placed on Homolka required her to tell police where she lived and worked. She also had to tell them if she planned to move or travel.

Homolka is believed to be living in the Montreal area under her new name, Karla Leanne Teale.

I've been wanting to suggest this for about 3 months. As most of you know alot of our threads get way off track basically from screwing around, flaming or whatever. I for one am very guilty of that LOL.

I have spoken to Rick and he agree's that we should try and fix that. And I think a thread dedicated to all our joking around, non-Ferrari, off topic jargon should be placed in this thread. It will be kinda like a whore thread LOLL (Sweet, I know Goldy likes that term. It was an election plus for me). So here it is, the Great Canadian Flaming Beaver Thread. As for the name, dont ask.

If Db wants to cut up Steve's cane...do it here. If Rick wants to show off his new diamond studded track suit...do it here! If James has some wild party story with beautiful women abusing him...tell us about it here (Is that not everyday James?). If Bernie wants to tell us about his WILD 80's stories (which I hope he does) please post here. If playboy-Glenn in Calgary wants to add to those wild party stories please post here. And of course if Todd wants to yap about his beautiful Corvette, then do it here so we can flame him But no worries, we have Raisin over here to assist you.

This of course is just an idea and I would like to know if you have any opinions. Again, This is just an idea so we can coral all the off-topic stuff that sidetracks alot of the good threads. Also, if you want to start a thread about great video or something to that nature maybe post here? Or even threads that are not too strong can be merged into this one.

I also put a sticky on our beloved "Spotter Threads" to make it easier to find.

Thoughts? PLEASE post any comments so we can make this place even more awesome.

Oh yes, the thread does have a mascot. And he is getting prepped as we speak.

I for one would like to thank our moderators for coming up with probably what's going to be the most useless bloody sticky ever to be posted on FerrariChat. Frankly, I think you all way too much time on your hands and rather than post silly pictures of women shaving small woodland creatures and pictures of Ammz and his buddies giving a camera the thumbs up, you should all get the h*ll back to work.
