I have not posted on the FCar side for a while, but those of you who have been around for a while know I'm big on car shows. Using a cover on an open trailer is taboo for obvious reasons: However, let me give you a tip on how I am able to do it.

I put a factory (silk type) cover on the car. Then a heavy carcraft outdoor cover on top of that. Go the the uhaul web site and look under tie downs. They have these ropes with rollers on it. They are rachet type, but you pull the rope to lock it and it has a little roller (sometimes I see them a Home Depot). Then go to Wallmark and go the the camping section. You can get large yellow snap on hooks to secure tents. These large hooks snap on to the fabric and are removable, once on it is impossible for them to slip off by accident.

When cover is on the car, position the hooks so you can run 2 ropes under the car front to back and about 4 side to side (under the car). You now have 12 points securing the outer cover.

Using this method you can secure the cover tighter than a snar drum. No chance for the wind to pick it up and it will also keep the car dry in the event of rain.

I've used this method many times at proglonged speeds of 70-75, in the rain, etc. Works great.

Yes, it's sweet. About a month ago I was pulling it empty and in the middle of nowhere I stop to get gas. While pumping fuel, this red neck looking type of guy comes over and is checking it out for about 5 minutes, turns to me and says "Dang, that trailer is worth more than what you're pulling it with" :)
